Interested to know if those who don't sing rebel songs still sing any Irish songs at all. Think it would be a great Shame to stop celebrating the club and much of the supports Irish heritage and connection. I see tri colours all over Celtic park and a decent support from Ireland more so on the bigger matches so the connection won't die thats for sure.

But you can be proud of Irish roots without that having to be republican

I don`t sing rebel songs or anything like that at all. While I believe the connections should always be acknowledged, the prevalence of Irish tricolours at Celtic matches is for me a distortion. Celtic is a Scottish club playing in a Scottish league supported - in the vast majority - by Scots.

No problem with fans who identify with the Irish connections, just my perspective.

It's no a distortion. I would say the prevalence of Tricolour at games would suggest it is your views that are a distortion of the vast majority of Celtic fans views.

    Just my perspective.

Didn't you say you had the rifles of the IRA CD in a different thread? Hypocrite :smiley-laughing002:

Seriously though I can understand why some don't if it's a moral disagreement or not wanting to get ejected

No, it was the LP version with the limited edition gatefold sleeve.

My appreciation of the Wolf Tones folky talents and their way with a rousing tune is completely different from IRA/rebel bampottery at Celtic matches !

Really I am not bothered that much, Celtic has a duel Scots/Irish identity and that's fine. But I go to watch Celtic though and would rather we stuck to Celtic songs.

Except maybe Walk On, its a Liverpool song really. Although I have yet to see them do it better than us.

No mention of Celtic in any of them. So not actually Celtic songs, Celtic songs because the fans have sang them for a long time.

At the games I can make, not so much as no one else is singing them. Maybe in the pub after or if I get to an away game.

That's true, but they inflect a sense of history and tradition without being as full on as some of the more 'obvious' rebel songs.

Also we used to sing Sailing many years ago, nowt to do with Celtic but was great with all the scarves held up. Bring it back.

I'm not arguing with yea here I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of the laws in Scotland the BOTOB refers to the old IRA anyways ( not that I see a difference between them and the ones of the 70's onwards) but basically the BOTOB is a song about the official Free state army it just goes to show how stupid the whole football act is
