just a thing i was talking to a mate about yesterday...when they are on the pitch you can see they hate them..novo and boyd etc..and apart from king artur...what happens to them when they leave cp...they start hugging them....surely when you have a dislike for a hun..it should stay with you? seen scott mcdonald dry humping boyd in one of the papers after he scored at week end...thoughts?
Discuss Do our players ever REALLY hate the huns?? in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.

I don't think they do hate the huns, hate is such a strong thing, why would they hate someone they hardly know? They want to beat them and take a lot of pride out of beating them but that's not the same as hate. Most Celtic and rangers players live in the same area, their neighbours and away from the football some of them might even be friends.
At the end of the day they are paid to do a job that's all. -

Jackie McNamara and Neil McCann are mates as are Henke and GVB. Obviously Thommo hated Ricksen but that had more to do with his late night antics and not because of who he played for.In fact, I even heard some Rangers players didn't like Ricksen either. I suppose it depends on the individuals but I don't think Brown is pals with Laugherty after the dig he had at him in the last old firm game.

Hate is so strong a word for people we share a country with. Went to school with. Got to work with. Have friends that are.
Time to drop this whole HATE thing.
Nothing wrong with having rivals and wanting to pump them, but hate? Not for me, there is enough * hatred in the World without looking for it in a game.
To the original poster : Looks like you have a lovely wee wain there, congratulations. Bet you love them very much. Do you want to bring them up into a World of hate? Or teach them peace and love?Last edited by a moderator: Aug 24, 2010 -

Think Lennon probably hates a few huns, after all the * he got back in the day. But in most cases they probably get along outside of football.
Although if I was Hinkel I wouldn't like Lafferty. -

Plenty old firm players in the past have been good mates and socialised off the field. It's a job to them, they are professional people. They tend to avoid the bitterness that fans have. Rightly so.

I hate the right dirty orange ones that show hate for us but your average guy in the street who can have a good conversation about a game or a bit of banter is fine. -

I don't think they do, TBO. As they come up against each other their will be rivalry but I am sure they get over it just as quick as they get into it.
I would be the type of supporter who takes it to the game with them and turns off as soon as I get of the supporters bus. It would be all part of the day for me and that would that.
<o:p> </o:p>
During my working days in Scotland I was out numbered by at least 7 to 1 by Rangers fans and I wouldn’t say I had to get on with them, but I did and more so not because of what football team they supported.
<o:p> </o:p>
There was one lad who had tattoos all up this arm, red hand , UVF and all and I would say that most of the Rangers fans though he was an *.
<o:p> </o:p>
When I look at the rangers team there would only be a few who I would say I hate with Laferty topping the poll but over all I couldn’t give a *.
<o:p> </o:p>
When cousins was flattening our players I hated him for that and when you see McCoist on the touch line giving him the thumbs up is sure as * boils the blood. Over all though I don’t hate any of them, I just didn’t like what they did to win games.
<o:p> </o:p>
An example of how stupid it would be to hate McCoist when he is with Rangers but cheer him on when he scores for Scotland. It would be a bit contradicting don’t you think. -
Peter Grant and Ian Ferguson used to Holiday every year together without fail.
Nowadays most aren't scottish so it's different but the scots will still be mates of somekind. They won't hate each other.
Mcmanus and Ferguson spoke a lot about their friendship.
For 90minutes during an old firm you're allowed to hate, the banter the abuse then after that it should be talking about the game and laughing. -

My best man is a rangers fan. No issue, great guy.

A hate 99% of huns except for my dad! He wanted better for me and sent me in the right direction . thats what I always tell him hah!!!
-
It's a shame we have such small minded people in Scotland.

Do you remember the old firm game not so long ago when mccoist joined in the celebrations when rangers scored. He literally ran to the corner flag and jumped on the pile up,anyway see if lennon done that do you think that he would be let off with that without even as much as a warning. If not then lennon has every right to 'hate' the huns because he really do feel he has always got a raw deal in scotland
