Do Celtic play better as a team without Ledley?

I like both but I would have Ledley every time. He gives 100% for 90 minutes in every game were as Ki tends to go into his shell if things aren't going well. I don't think Kayal is anywhere near as effective with Ki next to him as he is with Ledley.

Joe Ledley isn't a battler? He works from box to box and he closes down and tackles a lot more than Ki does.

We don't know what positions Ledley is good in? Stop playing dumb. We've all seen that Ledley is very good in central midfield.

Joe Ledley doesn't track back? You must have your eyes shut when Ledley plays.


Over the last 18 months, Celtic have played their best football when Joe Ledley has been in central midfield and Ki has been on the bench. I don't really care if that doesn't fit in with your Ki love in. It's a fact.

Nope a think he gives us a bit of bite in midfield, he should never be used at left back unless a real emergency, he is a cracking player but lennon really needs to get his best midfield and stick with it, but its tough, ki, ledley and kayal are all favourites of lennons and the majority of us, so its a case of fitting them all in.


3-5-2 is the asnwer in my opinion, we cant defend to save ourselves at the best of times so why not

well unless this amazing play that you are looking for is tracking back, playing simple passes, and generally getting our midfield flowing you will continue to miss it. Ledley isnt going to amaze you with his range of passing or his dead ball ability but he works tirelessly for the team and plays the simple pass quickly which gets the team moving forward. Ki on the other hand for all of his world cup passes holds the ball to long and generally stops us from being able to counterattack teams effectively he also fails to track back and recently looks like he cant be bothered. This is why ki should never be played in a two man midfield its no coincedence that we have lost the midfield battle in all of the games this year that he has started in a two man midfield He is simply not enough of a fighter too succeed in scotland unless he has two other central midfielders along side him

Actually he is a battler, after Kayal the best one we have . He doesn't put in the slide tackles that other players do but he never * out of a tackle like Ki does and he constantly tracks back, his work rate and desire can never be questioned unlike some of the other midfielders we have. you say you have never seen a MOTM performance from him but I and most Celtic fans certaintly have our best central midfield last year was Kayal and Ledley.

Ki will hit a world cup ball every once in a while and he has the ability to score from outside the box but he will never be the player Ledley is because he simply does not have the work rate ledley possesses. Ledley runs around like his hairs on fire for 90 minutes and makes short effective passes that move the team forward, Ki on the other hand jogs around the park and when he gets the ball he slows our play down by trying to pick the perfect pass.

No * way those figures are right Dylan McGeough gets 3,000 a week and he is a youth team player, Ki is probably on something around 15000 a week which i think is about average for the club.

You clearly don't understand much about football then, do you think tracking back is unimportant because Ledley tracks back constantly using his fantastic pace to stop opposition attacks. When we attacking he gets himself into good positions and plays simple passes which are generally more successful than spraying long aerial balls all around the park.

 

To the OP: You've been spreading negativity around this forum ever since you joined mate. I don't know if it's been intentional or not, but a good 90% of your posts are negative, even after we've won a match.

Ledley is a far more consistent player than Ki is. As I've said many times on here now, I love Ki and think he's a great player. However, Ledley and Kayal in the centre of midfield is the best central midfield partnership we can possibly field right now. I have never seen Ledley play badly, yet I can think of a few occasions where Ki has simply drifted out of games.

As for your statement about Ki playing in the 3-0 derby game at Parkhead last season, a quick look at the BBC report on that game will tell you that Ki replaced Kayal after 60 minutes. Ledley played the entire 90 minutes. We won and done it in style.

We took Joe Ledley out of the starting 11 at Ibrox in September and he never even came off the bench. We got pumped 4-2. Ki started that game in central midfield alongside Kayal. Don't tell me I'm the only one that can see we perform better when Ledley is in the side and more importantly, when Ledley and Kayal are playing central midfield.

Absolutely not, we won last night and put on a battling performance but possession wise we werent great.
Whenever kayal and ledley are the central partnership thats when we play our best football without doubt.
