Greatest player there ever was or will be. Overweight, alcoholic, cocaine addict who drank, sniffed and shagged at halftime let alone before games and had zero protection from refs or his own clubs, yet still single handedly won Argentina a World Cup when the WC mattered and won Napoli their only ever trophies.

    Legend.

Always feel with how global and accessible football is these day’s with the best players live on tv a few times a week we’ll never get players like this who are almost mythological figures.

A lot of my generation probably grew up with parents, grandparents, uncles who thought he was * in footballing terms and took offence at even comparing the likes of Messi to him.

    RIP Legend.

You definitely can’t compare Maradona to Messi.

Messi has no equal in the history of the game of football, never mind Maradona.

    That’s neither here no there.

Feel like people on both sides trying to argue about it when he’s just died is a bit classless and isn’t a good look at all.

If you’re first thought about him passing is to have a dig at Messi never winning a World Cup or it’s to say Maradona wasn’t as good as Messi is then you really need to go out and get a life.

Maradona passing away kicking off a GOAT debate shocker eh :56:

The real classless thing the past 2 days is how the English have made it all about them. He had them on strings for decades, still does even in death.

    ALL OF THEM!!!!
Watching this, they should have called it "England in the world cup 1988"!!! A so called "tribute" to Maradona. It's all just England games/ players. Sadly * all to do wi Maradona so far. Typical English media Pish, and then Diego will be called a cheat towards the end, no doubt. Disrespectful *!!!

Said this less than a month ago. Absolutely gutted that the end has come so soon. He is the best footballer I have ever had the pleasure of watching and I will be surprised if I ever see a better player. His performances at Mexico 86 are something I will always remember and what he achieved at Napoli was just stunning.

RIP ya wee genius. Your name will be spoken for as long as football is played.
