    I think there's a good chance we'll get him on a perm deal next year. If he smashes it I could see them offering Laxalt + money for Ajer if he signs an extention, or maybe just Laxalt if he doesn't.

    Delighted with this either way, I was honestly preparing myself for Barry Douglas.

    I’m confident he’ll do very well here.

    In almost ever way, he’s the polar opposite of Greg Taylor as a left wing back (and I don’t mean that as an insult to Taylor). He’s lightning quick (Frimpong and possibly Forrest will be the only two in the squad who are as quick), he’s dynamic, he’s very comfortable on the ball and he’ll commit defenders and get to the byline. The most obvious comparison in our squad is Frimpong, due to how direct Laxalt is.

    He’s a great option to have as the natural width and threat he’ll give us when we attack will pose a real headache for defences and cause them to be more stretched, therefore opening up more space for the likes of Edouard (as well as Frimpong/Forrest on the opposite flank, as it will be far harder to double up on them).

    His biggest weakness is his aerial ability, but that’s nowhere near as big an issue at LWB as it would be at LB. He’s tenacious and he’ll get stuck in, but don’t expect him to be out there bullying guys as he’s not the strongest. That said, he’s a clever player and shouldn’t be a liability from a defensive point of view at all.

    Hopefully he settles quickly and picks up the language so that he hits the ground running. The fact we don’t have anyone in the squad who speaks Spanish or Italian (or at least I don’t think we do) might be a bit of a hitch.

    In short, I’m delighted with this signing. I seen a lot of people saying over the last few weeks that the ideal scenario was bringing in a left sided Frimpong... well, that’s exactly what we seem to have attempted to do :50:
