Derek Riordan (Several Threads Merged)

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by andy1978, Oct 30, 2006.

  1. its a tough one, we all know he is a quality player but will he get the chance to shine, he is too good to sit on the bench forever, i think he will go if things continue the way they are.

  2. maybe a good idea untill we know whats goin on with shaun

hes rotting on the bench, cant be good for him

  3. Would you stay? He wasn't even on the bench yesterday. Absolutely no point from his point(if you see what I mean)

  4. as JVOH 83 said i would loan him out

  5. I like the idea of loaning him out. He will grow in stature and value as he gets older and I do think he has a role to play here especially if Maloney goes.

Mind you on the subject of Maloney I can't help thinking its another Liam Miller scenario of a player leaving before he is ready and thinking he will be a big name in the Premiership but thats maybe for another thread.

Riorden must have known he would not walk into the side but he has not been given an opportunity yet either. Get him loaned out and get match practise in him

  6. Send him back to easter road....

  7. that would do me :84:

also i dont no why we payed £150k for him and we never play him when in jan we could have got him for nothing tutututut

  8. id play him ahead of zurawski

  9. Keep him so we can stick Maloney in the stiffs to rot
    :47:

  10. Keep him until January. Then give Maloney an ultimatum. Then, if Maloney commits to stay, put Riordan out on loan BUT if Maloney will not commit stick Maloney in reserves and put Riordan ahead in pecking order just behind McGeady. I would simply not tolerate Maloney not sorting it out in January.

  11. i would keep him the lad isnt getting a fair run out and i think maloney might go so we should keep him plus he played well in the game against kilmarnock

  12. I dont know why celtic bought him in the first place but one thing it will put othere players going to the old firm.

  13. Overkill187

    Overkill187 Batshitcrazy

Exactly my thoughts. No one is bigger than the club.

sounds daft but if celtic remain in front by so big a margin id keep him here... towards the end of the season GS can experiment with his squad and give riordan a good run of 5,6 games in the team.... that way he could really demonstrate what he can do for the celtic.

  14. to be honest he doesnt deserve his place in the team at the moment, no matter what hppens with maloney, riordan has been * in the resreves and would be better off out on loan to get some playing time and prove himself:50:

  15. if riordan goes i dont mind coz wen he comes on he plays rubbish and jst dosnt look like he wants to play for the bhoys

  16. i suppose it'll be a shame if he goes, he's not done so bad really. I never really looked to him as a great player though... so maybe he should go, i can't say i'll miss him too much

  17. Riordan was pretty good against Falkirk-the only time he has payed fromt he start in a fairly strong Celtic team. He had nothing to do with the bad result. A good point was made above about keeping him and giving him a good run to see if he is good enough once the league is all wrapped up (February??). Had not thought of that and that is a good arguement for keeping him regardless of Maloney's decision. I think he will be a very good player once he gets a run.

  18. He needs more of a run in the team before i can decide if i want him on loan.

  19. He will most likely be going to West Brom on loan :50: I said this the other day in the Maloney thread... Now another club is showing intrest. I think the Celtic board is still convinced Maloney isn't going anywhere...
