The problem last night was the amount of space they were getting in the middle of the park without being challenged then when they picked the right pass our defence was a yard or two off picking up their players.

Matthews at LB kept coming in to the centre too often and was leaving us exposed down the left which cost one of the goals and could have cost a couple more.

Berget was non existent over in the left (wont blame him entirely as he probably shouldn't have played) but we had no flair down that side and everything was expected to go through McGregor (a youth player) and Commons who doesn't really ave the pace to break through.

Pukki was left isolated and was trying to play off the last man but the through balls were sloppy and left him chasing shadows.

all in all he got everything wrong last night, lets just hope its a small blip.

He's said in his post match interview that the plan at 2-1 and a man down was not to attack. What the * happened? the defence was far to high and the gap between defence and midfield was massive!

When the players lose focus like that you've got to wonder how much they give a *! Absolute disgusted with the players on the park last night. The only one I'd give any credit to is Forster, If it wasnt for him it would've been 7 and I'd still be in the fetal position this time next week

I like that he speaks with conviction that breaks down the full game and tells you where we went wrong. Why the * did you not change it up then?

I like Ronny but I hope he isnt all bark and no bite because its easy to talk a good game.

Everytime we lost possession in their half Legia were met with a empty midfield to run into. Nobody held their position they just wandered all over the place.

I think for the second goal (maybe the first) Legia attacked from the right handside and somehow that ended with Matthews out of position, Van Dijk nearly playing right back, Ambrose in Van Dijks position and Lustig playing in Ambrose' position. Simply not good enough.

If we somehow manage to beat this mob and go through to the group stages (LOL) we will get tore apart. It could have been 8-1 last night regardless of Ambrose getting sent off.

His team selection was the most baffling for me. Dropping Izaguirre for Matthews backfired massively, as did starting Berget, who offered almost nothing in my opinion. They were two massive calls he made, and he got them wrong.

I know, one of the biggest games to ensure CL football and he drops two players with a vast amount of experience in Europe for a relatively unknown player who hasn't played with the team before.

    * stupid.

Let's get one thing clear, he inherited a side that just about got through last year against Shaktar Karagandy. Now consider that he's now trying to put his own stamp on the team and is trying new things, and the fact that Leiga are a far better team than Shaktar were.... it was never going to be easy to say the least.

I think there's maybe one or two players who don't really have the intelligence or tactical know-how to play under Ronny's system.

He's got the whole SPL campaign to try new things. Messing up the whole team and having them play in weird positions and dropping key players in one of the most important games of the seasons is a joke. He quite clearly never done his homework on Legia.

Also seen players come off at 2-1/3-1 down to a handshake from Collins!? A boot up the * is what they needed not comforted. I could have played better in defense last night and I'm not even kidding and could have been more animated on the touchline to encourage my team. Instead we had Collins sitting in the dugout, legs crossed and Deila standing biting his * fingers! If I ever seen a picture of 2 people out of their depth it would be those two.

I don't know the rationale behind Izaguirre - presumably not 100% match fit? But even at 80% I was surprised. Don't even get me started on parachuting Berget straight in. That was idiotic.

I really cannot figure out what the thought was behind the selections mate. Neither made one iota of sense.

Agree with the two of you there. Both decisions were bizarre.

Europe, away especially, is not the place for experimental teams and line ups.

I gave Ronnie the benefit of the doubt when he came but after last night im worried. Hes out of his depth and that showed last night. I dont think he has the tactical know how or the repect of the players to turn this around at Murrayfield. It dosent boad well for the coming campaign. Fans short changed as usual by a board that will continue to take them for granted as long as some fans are fixated by balance sheets. :38::38:

its fair enough he has his way of playing and sets out to do so, but after getting the early goal to take the lead, you then have to use that situation to sit back and keep the ball, and make them chase the game, use it to your advantage, we never done that and thats a big worry, more than anything.

Even the formation, for me, was risky in its attacking outlook. Having gone 1-0 up - without, I must say, looking particularly solid at the back - I was expecting the plan (informed beforehand) to have been a standard European counter-attacking game when we went one up. Soak up the pressure to half time.

Agree 100% - nail on head. The lack of adaptation to the situation we found ourselves in (a fantastic situation, as an aside) both * me off and worried me simultaneously. The comments about him not making his point clearly enough for start of 2nd half also flummoxed. *.

If we're going to play a 2 man midfield while Brown is injured, we can't afford to use Mulgrew. I've genuinely seen 40 year old players who are faster than him. Has to be Johansen and Biton to start when Brown's injured. Both relatively quick, can dribble and press, and both can put their foot into a tackle and read the game reasonably well.

Anyone else think Efe was responsible for first 2 goals and then getting himself sent off. not an excuse - tactics, selection and formation all played their part. but we were the cause of our own downfall. reckon legia could be undone at the back if we actually played well and astutely

and not playing Izzy was insane...

I think a negative side-effect of Deila's time studying Klopp is that he seems to approach games with one set strategy - which isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself - but leads to him not being clued up enough on the opposition. Looked that way vs KR when that English striker Martin kept finding space to run into.

Well he's inherited the same defence that were shambolic in Europe last year and currently he only has those same players to choose from.... our defence cost us yet again yesterday.
