Deila' Tactics

Our main problem tonight was having no dedicated sitting centre-mid, too often Johansen and Mulgrew were caught out with one easy pass.

It doesn't help when Mulgrew has a nightmare and Johansen disappears.

That was pretty much what i was saying mate..

You can't.just change.our whole style 3 competitive games in away from home in such a.massive game and a step up in quality, it was madness..

 

Tell you something I thought I'd never say... We missed Samaras, big time.

 

I'll back him to the hilt but Ronny made a * of it tonight with some of the decisions and ended up paying the price. * scary to think they missed two penalties and we are still 4-1 down.

 

His tactics and line up was baffling, looked out this depth tonight

I wonder if the players were intimidated by the crowd and didnt follow tactics as a result ?

Heck, I was intimidated by the crowd, and I`m watching online !

Too early to judge the manager, I think, despite the disappointment of possible elimination from the competition.

 

Basically yeah.

Deila's only mistake for me tonight was starting Pukki instead of Griffiths, but that wasn't really relevant given it was the defence who let us down.

Celtic only have 2 top draw players, Van Dijk & Forster. Brown is also good enough for the CL. Apart from that I don't think anyone one of our players are good enough to compete at the highest standard. Johansen may be, as he looked to have great potential but tonight was the best opposition he's come across and he wasn't good.

I didn't blame the board last year but that's 2 years in a row we've either sold our best players or allowed speculation about them to simmer, and bought no-one of any quality whatsoever.

Jose Mourinho couldn't do any better with the current crop of players. The manager is almost irrelevant at Celtic these days.

then all of a sudden in the preseason were playing a pressing all over the park way ???

wish we had played that game tonight in a boring way like neil would have played it

the deal is to keep yourself in it for the home leg not leave yourself with a mountain to climb

well thats ambrose and mulgrew out of the murrayfield return they'll not be playing anytime soon

 

No fitness, Ambrise had a nightmare, Van Dijk had his worst game in a Celtic shirt, Johansen couldn't dictate the game like he usually does, Pukki couldn't get on the ball. McGregor was our best player.

Definitely not going to jump on Deila's back in the slightest. Was never going to be easy and would have been so much different without the red card.

 

For example, when Griffiths was brought in by Lenny he was seen as a extra if you like, some one who would support stokes. When he came on tonight I felt like celebrating and although he has scored a few goals it isn't right to feel overjoyed about a player of his calibre come on to save the day at 3-1 down....

 

There needs to be a squad clear out .

 

I posted in the match thread I couldn't watch the last ten minutes ( I didn't ) doesn't make it any easier .

 

I think in the long run deilias tactics will be great for us however tonight after ambrose was sent off and considering the rest of the players clearly werent at the races then he shouldve played it cautious in the 2nd half. Our midfield was *, defence was *.

 

who the * plays a rb at lb when the first choice lb is fit
pukki ,a youngster and a debutante,as the attacking options stokes and griffiths should have been on before any of them
and what tactics?there was * all on show tonight

 

I don't think we should panic just yet. The same thing happened to Strachan and Lennon when they came in. We will know where we stand when Delia finds his feet. However, I'm not a fan of the 'attacking philosophy' and think everything should be built from the back. Its for this reason I am a little sceptical of hiring Delia. Not a fan of Collins as a coach either.

Poor tonight. Ambrose was awful, Mulgrew cannot play in a midfield two and having 3 left-footers in the middle of the park is bizarre. I also don't think Commons links things up well enough to play in the hole in Europe. The Matthews and Berget things were bizarre.

What is most striking however is the total failure of Deila to read the game or react properly to what was happening on the pitch. Not good.
