It also comes with match experience and being part of a settled team which he hasn't been up until now. As I said he's a good defender, has the potential to be a very good defender. So it's worth working with him to see what we can achieve with him.

To say he's 25 as if he's a veteran and it's too late for him is ridiculous. He's got time to improve and lots of players nowadays are late developers. It comes with experience and hard work and it's worth giving him the chance to gain and do both. Hardly helped he's had a new CB partner every other week.

It's not a case of being too patient (as if that is a bad trait anyway) but a case of not being too impatient, as many many of our fans seem to be unfortunately. Give the lad a chance it's not like he's Efe and has been here for a few years now and been consistently * over that period.

Still not convinced. His pedigree suggests he should be playing a lot better than this, but he really isn't showing it. He's powerful and quick, but lacks concentration and quality on the ball.

The problem is we're setting up the side as if we still have Van Dijk and Denayer at the back, who we could leave exposed knowing they had the quality to snuff out any danger (domestically, at least). We could also trust them both to play out from the back and start attacks. We don't have that anymore, so why are we playing the same way?

The fact that he is 24 and man city havent/hadnt given him his chance, or he hasn't staked a first team place is rather telling.

Obviously we wouldn't be able to sign an established player from man city - the cost would be way beyond us. But it's telling that in all his years he never really made it. He has been set back a lot by that.
What is interesting is that he must have been given a second contract, so they must have believed something else was there. So not all hope is lost.

He definitely needs time to settle, maybe with simunovic is a good idea. But with Ambrose, a known issue for us, he has no hope in * of progressing.

He has some good qualities as does Efe. They compliment each other well. They both have massive flaws in their games though but I think we can work around them. I think Efe is done too many fans have turned on him. Im not a Boyata fan like most people but I think we can get the best out of him. We need to sign an experienced center back. * the resale bullshit and invest in ourselves an experienced pro to play beside him and a change of system and its a different story.

He's pish it's not even his atrocious passing ,most of the time he's sleeping.the later I don't think can be coached out of someone.the amount of "footballers" today who get into teams because they are big / athletic is shocking ,boyota falls into that catagory

He scares the life out of me. He has no ability how to read the game and gets caught out all the time.

At the start of the season, it was easier to excuse his mistakes because he hadn't ever really had a proper run of first team football. So many of us were hoping that he'd cut out slack passes once he has a run in the team. It seems now that his general awareness on the pitch needs to massively improve. Hopefully that comes with experience and guidance but the way our defence is playing just now, it doesn't seem like they're being coached well at all.

Any composure he gains will only come with regular footbal, with a regular partnership. So far he's getting one and not the other. He's never going to be world class in my opinion, but there's a solid defender in there, if we can utilise it. If we can't develop it, then get shot and give up, and only buy finished articles in future. What a sad development that would be...

Think him and Jozo will be our centre half pairing and it'll be good to have a settled defence. He played well today, other than the one near the end where he headed clear, lack of communication between him and Gordon.

Can't argue with the number of goals he chips in with.

Thought he played well, from what I seen.

Trying too much on the ball again though at times, just keep it simple big man, it suits you!

Think they need to work with him in training on his passing of the ball too often he gives it away or he gets caught in possession.
