Trevor Macdonalds recent two part death row program shed a light on things, one of the inmates on death row killed a young mother and daughter in a failed robbery. The full details of the crime were horrific and barbaric. He is despised by all the other prisoners and is in permanent soiltary confinement. When interviewed he stated that he did deserve capital punishment. (His words)

Another was a Black guy who killed an old lady when he was 13 years old, he's now in his 30s and was given 140 years for the crime. No chance ever of parole, his look of despair knowing he will never get out of there alive was telling.

I voted no for the reason that an innocent person could be put to death....

In certain circumstances yes, proven killers, serial child molesters and international war criminals, yes.

However, some countries, especially Singapore need to have a look at their capital punishment laws. Reading over some of the recent hanging stories from that * little island makes your heart bleed for the families of those Darshan Singh has hung.

1st paragraph...He probably wants the death penalty because he is having such a bad time in prison.

2nd paragraph...Again, knows that he is going to be caged like an animal for the rest of his life.

You roll your eyes at my completely sarcastic comment, yet you give a thumbs up to some guy who has been inside for a large part of his life bragging about it and how much he makes as a criminal:smiley-laughing002:

It's us that keep these scumbags locked up for you while you sleep safely at night, yet you side with them and give us abuse at any opportunity.

    Just :97:

And bragging about how much you make being a criminal and calling everyone * in a certain line of work isn't? If that's not a scumbag post I don't know what is!

It's a tough one. The programme with Trevor Macdonald a few weeks ago about being on death row shone some light on the situation. If someone is openly admitting that he/she has murdered someone in cold blood, or committed a horrific crime, then I do feel like the death penalty is a suitbale punishment. Some of the poeple inside are a complete waste of air and taxpayers money in all honesty!

Thats a post i dont understand.
Assuming that means that they would be murdered in jail.
Would the families/victims not feel justice was best served if they where legally killed by the state instead of another criminal doing the killing??

I agree the death penalty for drug smuggling too harsh, a British man with learning difficulties was duped into being a drugs mule in China, he also met the same fate. A heavy prison term is more appropriate. They have terrible problems with drugs in those country's and you can see why they use it as a deterant but its hard to justify it.
