We've missed Hatate's energy badly. I like Bernardo, but he could improve his finishing a bit.

Genuinely thought after the first game of the season he was going to really kick on and have an Armstrong like season in terms of his numbers however it just hasn’t really happened for him.

As said above the embarrassment of the covid season he was one of the few who stood up and produced something and he was a massive player for Ange when he first came in. Injuries and a lack of mobility were his undoing in the end.

Wish him the best though, always liked him and hope he has a good career down there.

David Turnbull isn't sure if his Celtic career fizzled out due to "other things" after a tough final six months at Parkhead.

The former Motherwell midfielder left for Cardiff City on deadline day, sealing a £2million switch to South Wales with just six months remaining on his Hoops contract. Turnbull found himself out of favour under Brendan Rodgers after initially appearing to play his way back into first team contention following a drop down the pecking order under predecessor Ange Postecoglou.

Turnbull admits he found it hard not being involved, but insists he has nothing but good memories from his time as a Celtic player. It almost never happened after the move initially fell through when Turnbull ruptured cruciate ligaments at Fir Park. But the Premiership champions were prepared to wait, and snapped him for £3.5million upon his return to fitness. But it's now time for a new chapter in the English Championship.

"I think it was the right time for me [to move on]. I had a great time at Celtic, a great three and a half years, and I loved every minute of it," he said. "But maybe the last six months to a year hasn't been the way I wanted it. To come to a team like Cardiff is a great move for myself.

"It's about trying to replicate some things I have done before and putting my own style on to the team. At the start of the season I was playing games and after that fell away a wee bit. Sometimes in football that happens.

"Whether it is down to other things I am not sure, but I leave Celtic happy with a lot of my time there and it's time to come on to new things now."

Good for him. I must admit I watched the game and didn't notice that.

I can’t say I’ve paid much attention to him since he left, but I noticed earlier that Cardiff have been relegated to League 1. That, and a mild case of boredom, got me a wee bit curious about how he was getting on and I decided to take a gander at Transfermarkt:

In the 24/25 season he’s managed 19 appearances and 1 goal (back in September against Blackburn) and no assists. He was sporadically involved until mid-October (which was seemingly injury/fitness related) after which he becomes a first team regular. Then he apparently gets a hamstring injury which takes him out of action from the beginning of December to the 11th March. Since returning he’s played in 7 matches with 71 minutes being the longest he’s featured in a match (18’, 27’, 33’, 23’, 10’, 71’ & 21’ are the exact minutes he’s played in each match since his return, for anyone who cares) and he’s also been an unused sub twice.

Looking at his stats from the back-half of the 23/24 season, following his initial move, and while he was generally getting some decent game time, he still only managed 1 assist (and no goals) in 17 appearances.

While injuries have seemingly completely derailed most of this season, and I’m sure that naturally messes with any attempt to build momentum, 1G & 1A in 36 league appearances is still a pretty poor return regardless. I know he’s only 25 and there’s every chance he might rediscover some form in League 1, but it’s still a bit grim. His injury issues and athleticism, or rather lack thereof, was always going to put a pretty hard ceiling on his potential, but it must still be a bit of a kick in the nuts to go from winning trophies and getting to play in European competitions, to plying your trade in the English third tier.

I almost wonder at this point if he’s better off trying to get a move, be it a loan or otherwise, to a team like Hibs or Aberdeen. I know we’ve seen some Scottish guys who would potentially be stuck hanging around the also-ran Scottish sides or the English lower leagues go off to the MLS and make a decent career of it (i.e. Johnny Russell, Lewis Morgan & Ryan Gauld), but I’m not sure if that would even really be an option for Turnbull at this point.

Strange I don’t really rate the championship. Thought he’d do quite well down there
