TBF, there was talk of James going to Sunderland a week or two ago though it died down then it seems to be back again.

We haven't made any move for Coventry keeper according to a paper down there.

Mags are in for Campbell as well mind. As are Arsenal still.

As for James, SSN just there- 50/50 really. He is supposedly going to join Sunderland in Portugal for talks but others say he is very interested and impressed in and by Celtic and Lennon. Accoridng to newspapers.

i'm telling you.....very few of these english clubs spend money on their own player scouts, they wait to see who we are interested in and then try and hijack with higher wage offers with the money saved by not employing scouts:86::56:

If we are going to sign a goal keeper i'd want a young guy to be Zaluska's understudy. But an older guy like James for a season or 2 would maybe be good aswell, he could teach Zaluska and Cervi a few things, he would also be a good presence to have. So if he'd take something like 25k a week i'd take him. But that's all, i don't want us to be shelling out big wages on him.

I think once he meets Lennon and has a look at the place on a visit he will come. Lennon seems to have been able to sell the club well enough to previous visitors. Hes home tomorrow so we will see then.

James would be No.1 if he were at the club i'd imagine. He played well consistantly for Portsmouth last season and i remember a game against Aston Villa where some of his saves were unbelievable. He is unfairly mocked on these forums for past clangers and a really bad time at Liverpool, he's a cracking shot stopper and good at one on ones which may be rather handy for the likes of Loovens and Thompson. May even be a better captain than Scott Brown.

I'm sorry, but he has never been a class or even top keeper. He does get called calamity james for a reason. his attitude might be top notch, but the wages he would be on ain't.

and turning 40 in a few days, he must be one for the future, surely

would be a waste of wages.

How does someone end up holding the record for most EPL appearances and clean sheets if he has never been class or even a top keeper?

four leaf clover, just cant get enough.

I dont think Cervi is *, he is a very young man, give the pal a few more seasons, jesus GK's don't reach their potential much before 30. Ill take an American prospect keeper any day of the week of just about any other nationality (save maybe Spain).
