Ever since James moved to Portsmouth he has been solid keeper for them and pulled off plenty of quality saves. He's not had any of those blunder moments since back in his early days. If the guy is Englands number 1 (albeit they were * in the World Cup) then I think the guy good enough to play in goals for us.

so i take it you don't want people to have a say then mate it's a free world by the way just incase you forgot that people can say what they want you need to chill your boots pal and come down off your high horse

also you can't say you can say this or that, so just remember that.....

David James would be an excellent signing full stop. Top keeper all of his career, international keeper for a large part, top professional all of it. I think peoples aspirations have been downsized far too much over the last few years if we think Westwood from Coventry is the answer!

just wondering if you have seen the guy play thats all? he has been class for 3 or 4 seasons now, but if you havent seen him any games then you can't really judge, look at boruc we got him for 600k from a gash side was worth every penny, westwood is getting better every year and is only 25 great vaule for money if we get him and then mabe sell him on? james is a good keeper people will agree but i would rather get in someone who is younger than 39, if we get james then fair enough but i would rather we got fo younger players who will last over time not a short term fix

we need to plan for the coming years we don't have the cash like the big boys and need to spend it in my eyes on younger players who will then be sold on for more money so we can move forward

when talks of signing a player happen, it's inevitable that comparisons will be made with other players. You are infact doing it with Boruc. Compairing him to a player we don't have and will not be signing.

He's not been a blunder merchant the last few years - he's improved with age and thus why he is still England's number 1 keeper and one of the best keepers in the Premier League. He's better than Boruc, who has deteriorated shockingly the last 2 years.

I think he would be an excellent signing, much better than anything we've got, IMO not as good as what we just sold but whats done is done

I would be happy with David James between the sticks now. He is vastly experienced and an England International and World Cup goalkeeper. James has improved with age just like wine does,
and I see him being No1. Celtic goalkeeper now, and a more than able replacement for Boruc. James will dominate that goal line and make the eighteen yard box his domain.

Watched Westwood a few times last season and also have a good friend who is a Coventry season ticket holder, yes he is a good keeper and would be worth the money, looks a very good prospect. But James is still a top class keeper and for what we need, i.e. CL/Europa and Old Firm games Westwood would be cutting his teeth. Ideally get both and let Westwood play understudy to James for a season.

I didn't say you couldn't have your say mate, say what you want .. But what's the point in suggesting a keeper for the sake of it? Is it not a bit pointless asking for someone who we haven't even been linked with? Just because I questioned your need to suggest different goalkeepers in a David James thread doesn't mean I'm on my high horse and I don't think I was that unreasonable about it. You want me to take a chill pill and calm the ham aswell? Get real buddy

so really it's not been pointless is it we have been linked with loads of players and keepers......

i think you need to get real as i said before we have a say and am having mine so you nned to get real, just have a wee think about what your saying

lived in cov for 3 years before moved to merseyside mate seen him the last year i was there also my step dad is a carlisle united fan so have a soft stop and ive seen him play for a good few years, and thats why i think he could come to celtic and start

james is a class keeper i agree if he comes then fair nough ive already said that but we have to look forward and not this short term fix and get younger players in, i would have westwood in and then he will get better again 25 and he has shown he is getting better every season, only way james is going from now on is down and not up, yes for a season or 2 then it's a good deal but we could miss out on westwood and then it would be 2 late, we got big boruc at 24/25 why not westwood....

who ever we get in we defo need a keeper

His experience, quality and character mean he would be an excellent option.

He is super-fit for someone pushing 40 and is a good leader to have in the dressing room.

Just what we have been crying out for.

quality keeper, maybe 39 but still a top keeper, very fit fanatic, and fitter than most players half his age, good shot stopper and at crosses, has made some howlers, but hey what keeper has not made a mistake between posts even boruc made some howlers, cervi not good enough for 2nd keeper, and for free thats good buisness to me i would say, because gives zuluska real competion and cervi woudnt guys, espeicaiy howler between sticks in 3rd match in usa, my gran couuld of saved that and went right over his hand in middel of goals, get him in perfect replacment for boruc, and to get keeper of that standard would cost hoops, between 4 to 7 million.

I want to know why you all think that Zaluska has the right to be number 1? Boruc still had a year left in his contract so Zaluska already knew he would be No.2 this season. Personally, I believe that James would be an excellent signing.
