Feel so sorry for Barney, he's absolutely gutted and one of the most likeable sportsmen around.

To play that well and lose jeez oh but MVG is like some kind of Messi of darts. So weird all these best players ever in their sports coming along at the same time almost, or within 20 years, like Federer, Messi, MVG, Tiger Woods, Usian Bolt, Michael Phelps, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Lebron James, Jerry Rice, Mario Lemieux etc. I don't really know any other sports like cricket and rugby. Boxing greats were all in the past apart from maybe Golovkin? I know the heavyweights were all 60s or before really. UFC is too new a sport to judge. * trying to judge Tour de France. Chris Hoy? Probably too new a sport as well.

 

If Gerwen is Ronnie O'Sullivan then Ando is John Higgins,we are in for one * of a final!!

 

That's a good analogy, different mentalities who could both win on their day. Ger and Ron definitely the natural geniuses, Ando and Higgins more studious masters who are confident and can control the pace of games.

I must say though I don't have a lot of hope for Ando, MVG sees the trebles like 50 inch LCD screens. Same as O'Sullivan must see the pockets like basketball hoops sometimes. Or Moussa sees the goal like the side of a house with a jockey as keeper.

Big difference between MVG and Ronnie is MVG is a winner, he's constantly on tour and winning most matches I'm sure. Ronnie is very temperamental and subject to a lot of variables. Higgins is far more consistent I reckon, like Hendry was in tournament play, produced his best when it mattered.

Only mystery for me is if MVG will beat Taylor's record of World Titles. His only weakness is he can be mentally broken if his opponent is consistently hitting doubles and it can frustrate him. That's rare though, I think he is much stronger than he used to be. No pressure on Ando though so he could just keep plugging away like the tortoise vs the hare. Would be an incredible result if he won it. I hope it's close if he doesn't, want to see both players nerves tested.

 

Aye, a genius has to have a terrible personality for folk not to simply admire their talent in any field we understand. Even ones we don't, like I read the other day they confirmed Einsteins prediction of gravitational waves. Messi is still my favourite genius. No one has made me disbelieve what I saw as much.

MVG and Federer have that ability though too, with MVG it looks like he's taken darts further than any other player has. It's such a giant leap in class he could be like Messi and not seen again for 100 years or more.

Celtic are way beyond them though, no one has gotten me out of my seat so much whether at a game or not. As soon as we start approaching the 18 yard box I'm preparing to leap

Yes Ando is really up against it as anyone would be,he simply HAS to start well and use all of his Power scoring if Gerwen takes the first 2 sets its all over,but if Ando can hit the scores early on he can put pressure on the Gerwen throw,i think who hits the most 140s will win.
Gerwen is a surge player the best surge player ever but despite that i predict that sometime in the match Ando will win 6 straight legs.But despite that i will have several heart attacks watching it.

 

Praying Anderson starts well. Ideally winning at least 2 of the first 3 sets. If MVG starts too good. It'll be all over before it starts.

 

Anderson has won the last 2 titles for a reason. It's going to be one * of a final!
