We must sell him. If a Celtic player is sent to reading on loand and is deemed not good enough, then is sent back early, he should get nowhere near the first team again.

A lot of people seem blinded by the fact that -

    1. Darren O'Dea smashed a hun
    2. He is irish

If this merits a good player then we are in trouble. If his name was McDea and played for Scotland, the fans would have hounded him out like they did with Caldwell and McManus, who, in my opinion were the two best centre halves at the club

mcmanus might come back at the end of the season, then all we need is a decent lb

    hinkel-mick-jos-new signing/braafheid

odea would make a good sub or reserve player, but if he were to play like he did on sunday regularly (which he prob wont) he could have a shot at the starting xi

what a loaded poll! Phrased in a way that makes it almost impossibe to not come out favourable. He is * and 90% of posters were saying so all season until the OF game. He had a decent game in the OF match but the reality is even with 4 CBs gone either by being sold (Caldwell. loaned (Mick) or injured (Joss and Loovens), Mogga still picked a couple of teenagers (Rogne and Thompson) in front of him. That made him 7th in Mogga's pecking order for CH across he whole season. No managers rate the guy. WGS had 4 in front of him too. He cant get a game for Reading. He is now 23 and no better than he was when he was 20. The guy probably belongs a couple of levels down in the lower couple of leagues in England or he Scottish first division.

Darren O Dea is nothing more than sub. Hes never i first team regular and hope he gets punted soon. With Rogne and Thomson i dont Darren O Dea should be anywhere near the first team. Not even as backup.

yeah I think when you see a really decent young CH come in they have this calmness about them and things seem under control. Rogne, Thompson and some years ago JFK had it. That is because they have good senses of position IMO. O'Dea has never had that. He is all fight and no brain in terms of how he plays. It never seems calm and under control when he is on. When Jos and Looven are fit again O'Dea will be 5th choice again. IMO h is being very foolish hanging around a club where it is clear he is not rated. He needs to leave and move down a level or two to rebuild his career.

The wording of the options in the poll is very awkward. Indeed, I dare say that if the author, Emmetf, were to be looking for a new job could easily get one as a pollster/spin doctor in politics !!! :56:

Seriously though, McManus Mk. II, opps, sorry... O'Dea is polyfiller at best. He can fill in along the backline, but doubt he will ever be a first choice. If he is prepared to be that, fair enough. Otherwise, if he moves on he will find his level, and I doubt it will be at a club with a similiar stature as ours.

I am still not convinced that O'Dea is one of the answers for us in terms of being a regular starter at center back. But no question he played very well on Sunday against the huns and if he could produce that kind of form consistently then without a doubt he has a future at Celtic. Reality is you need 4 senior center backs in the squad and O'Dea given his age probably is one of those for us.

I still don't believe that O'Dea is the answer to our central defence problems. Can't fault him on Sunday though, he done well.
