Reality is that if he goes on to become the player the Aussies think he will, then in 2 years time he will have attractive options from all over the place. An option could be rendered useless.

Price will be locked, but it's still the players choice.

they sold mooy for 10m and this guy is rated higher all about making money city and turning over players.. they also put a buy back clause into the deal.

 

Purely business this deal. City Group looking for a quick profit, they know our league is a league he can look good in which will tempt us into a future big deal.

Usually under those circumstances the player joins the loan club, collecting nice juicy agent/signing on fees in the process before deciding where he actually wants to go next, a la Rebic this summer. Happened quite a few times already this summer due to the bigger clubs hoarding youngsters they have no intention of ever playing.

 

Not foolproof though, no guarantees at the end of it. 2 years a long time in football, say he comes in and has a Paddy Roberts esque impact then clubs will take notice.

Rather have it in place right enough.

 

Then we’ve had a very good player for two years with a chance of getting him permanently.

 

I’d be happy enough with just a 2-year loan deal. An option to buy at the end of that is an added bonus.

 

Not sure the exact details on the Rebic deal, but there are a lot of obligatory to purchase loans going about at the moment, I assumed that was the case in that deal.

This doesn't sound like that, City Group chasing $$$ and Celtic would be afraid to get locked in to that with an unproven youngster.

Not debating that, just saying the option to buy could turn out a bit gimmicky and not worth the paper it's written on.

Yeah no chance we'd agree to an obligation to buy, and that's why I used Rebic as an example because his wasn't either. He joins Frankfurt for a nothing fee on the condition that he gets a decent wedge (in the shape of agent/signing on fees) of what Frankfurt are gonna make from him. He then joins whoever he wants this summer and gathers additional agent/signing on fees from the bigger club.

Like you say it's just a money making scheme/shifting money around for FFP purposes by the City Group. We'll have agreed a fee that City are happy to make for doing * all. If in 2 years he's already attracting attention of bigger clubs like you suggested then City Group get the money they were happy with for doing nothing, Arzani and his agent collect a ridiculous amount for signing for Man City, Celtic and another club within the space of 24 months. And we get a good 2 years from a quality player and make a healthy profit from selling him on.
