Daizen Maeda

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Callum McGregor, Dec 31, 2021.

  1. Can't defend him today. He was rotten.

You worry about him on Wednesday as well, usually we can rely on him to harrass and defend and get involved but today you could tell even half an hour in that he wasn't really moving and avoiding getting involved. At HT I even said we should get him off and put anyone on.

Maeda even if he has a disaster where every touch is stinking and every shot wild etc he still buzzes about mental all over people but he never lifted a finger, he wouldn't do that unless he was incapable.

Alarm bells went off for me when like Valle and Hatate who were playing well were doing nice runs and passing etc and gave it to him and he'd just tap it backwards and stand where he was like don't involve me, done it 4/5/6 times in the first half, probably only actually ran 3/4 times.

  2. I've admitted that he's gotten a lot better this year.

However I still think he is too limited at times. Always will. Aye the work rate is insane etc we've all discussed it but I'd still like more from a celtic winger on the ball. Just my preference.

  3. Notice that goal he gave the ball away, usually he'd be like a man possessed but Valle who overlapped him actually got back to defend well before him and he never even burst into a jog.

Something wrong with him for me.

Usually he'd have sprinted back like a nutcase giving the ball away even if he didn't need to but he didn't even try to run.

  4. Aye, he was poor today. Very poor.

But TBF to him, Forrest came on and was exactly the *’ same. *.

  5. Gets a pass from me for today due to him obviously being shattered. Not been slow to criticise him in the past but that's when he's fit and running well but being clumsy clattering folk or the ball is bouncing off him.

Think we all just assume he doesn't need rested but should have been today.

  6. I forgot he was playing today.

  7. If he doesn't have anything to chase, he offers virtually nothing going in other direction against defensive teams.
More effective against teams that attack us, even then limited by his lack of ability on the ball.
I know it's unpopular opinion, but he's simply not good enough as a winger for us.

  8. When were up against it he's great..when asking him to take his man on and create he doesn't have the technical ability ...when teams sit deep just play Forrest..when they attack us he's a must

  9. Effectively cost us the win with that ridiculous pass before their third.

He was abysmal yesterday. His form on the whole has been very good the last few months, but that was a performance we’ve seen from him quite a few times (albeit without the pressing).

  10. Worst performance I've seen from him. Possibly missed Taylor at left back but no excuses for his lack of ability to trap, pass or control the ball.

  11. It's his birthday today, leave him alone ffs!

  12. What you see is what you get with the fella.

If he could cross and pass he’d be playing with Inter Milan.

I’ve just accepted it at this point and will take the positives when they inevitably come round.

  13. Should be rested from now on when comes back from international duty cause that display on Saturday was *

  14. He had a bad game and looked tired. It happens.

He's still, for me, one of our most important players.

  15. Think he needs a rest.

  16. Yep. Looks physically done in for me..

  17. Palma needs to step up.

  18. TBF to him, all he’s done for a fortnight is travel. Maybe a part of him is human after all.
