It's already been done... but faster air travel (ie concorde) that is safe and affordable. Think it will happen sooner rather than later.

I would like somebody to invent a hot water tap that dispenses hot water at a temperature that doesn't leave you with 3rd degree burns. It's * of an irritating when you go to wash your hands and within 5 seconds of putting your hands under the tap the water is so hot it scalds you.

(Disclaimer: If this has in fact already been invented then it hasn't come to my attention)

On some showers there is a temperature * as well as how powerful you want the water to come out. Most common with gas-showers (I do not mean this in a holocaust way, you know... gas powered water showers then.) If that's what you mean?

Bollocks, there's hydrogen buses in use in Germany, Iceland and Australia. I've seen a BMW that works perfectly fine with the hydrogen fuel cell engine. The only reason everyone doesn't have a non petrol/diesel car is because the car companies work with the oil companies in limiting the research and development of alternative fuels for our vehicles. Only 2 things will stop us burning oil: oil runs out or we destroy ourselves.

I know mate. There was a QI repeat on last week where they had a weird patents round. They had both the toilet snorkel and the comb-over in this round.

Aye coz your conspiracy theories disprove the inherent dangers of hydrogen fuel cells.

The BMW car is driven for show. The buses in some of those countries were trials that are no longer used. The limits to the distance able to travel on a fuel cell are about 1/6th the distance of a tank of petrol - did you watch the Top Gear programme on this? Clarkson driving through a town didn't even get out of the town before it ran out of juice.
At this moment in time it is just not economical.

Pure Hydrogen is extremely rare and extremely expensive to obtain - much more so than oil or coal. And like i said it is also extremely dangerous.
There are thousands of car accidents on our roads every day, how many people die from being blown up by a tank of diesel? Not many i imagine. But it would be a lot different if it was Hydrogen powering cars that got wrapped around a tree.
Hydrogen flames are invisible and odourless.

Your assumption that it's safe is based on buses and a BMW car that are driven a low speeds in low risk areas - the M25, M6 and A roads are a whole different ball game.

Granted there are massive benefits and if it can be done well and safely massive implications for the planet.
But trying to make some conspiracy theory out of it is crazy. BP, Shell and loads of other fuel companies are all researching the possibility of it.
They will still make masses of money and will not have to rely on rich Arabs for their sources either as it is difficult to get pure Hydrogen.
