Don't know much about him, but doesn't seem to have played much football over the past couple of years which is a bit worrying. In saying that every outfield player Brendan had brought in so far looks the part so got to trust him :50:

Don't know much about Gamboa like the rest of us probably, but he
was frozen out by Pullis, so he will be eager and keen to impress his new boss.

Will trust Brendan and the scouting team's judgement on this like all his other signings so far so good. This gives us four to compete for RB, Lustig, Janko, Gamboa and Ralston, that's not bad, and Gamboa seems to fit the profile of a fast offensive player.

I'm actually glad that we didn't go for Wisdom because I didn't fancy him.
It's all about keeping this feel good factor going under the new management, and having good choices for all positions in the team that fit the profile.

Extremely quick and direct full back that is very attack minded and likes to get to the byline to cross. Overlapping runs , late runs, providing extra width in final third .Defensively questionable by all accounts , may be utilised best as a wingback playing beside 3 centre backs allowing him ( and tierney ) to concentrate on getting forward. In a flat.back 4 i can see him being handy linking up with forrest or roberts going forward.

Very typical Brendan Rodgers signing ( aggressive , quick , direct .) Ideal player for a counter attacking team which is how we will set up in Europe .

From videos, he seems to have Janko's pace but the difference is he knows what to do with the ball when he gets into attacking positions.

Really, really excited about Gamboa. If we get the CM we need so desperately, not only will this be one of best transfer windows in years, but could be the start of something special, both domestically and in Europe.

I have actually seen this guy quite a lot. He played for my local team Fredrikstad six seasons ago. He is the best right back I've ever seen wear the FFK jersey. He was lightning fast and a good passer, very important when maintaining flow in the attack. He was not the best tackler in the game, but things might have changed since last time I saw him play.

He seems to play his way, and link up well to get out of trouble. Looks comfortable as well as lightening quick when going forward..

Deffo someone you could see Brendan improving..

I can be like that. Bit of a chameleon in forming my opinions.:smiley-laughing002:

No harm in playing Devil's Advocate until you get the right man.
And I was talking in personal preferences as regards the height factor.

Interesting to note he's yet to score a top flight league goal in his career, will be looking to break his duck at CP.

Guy's a * flying machine. Could be the fastest player we've had since Didier Agathe.

Christian Wulff (Norwegian football blogger) on Twitter:

On Gamboa; while competition admittedly not fierce, was the best right-back in Norwegian league during his time there - very well respected.

A 'specialist' right-back in build and type. Quick & good technique. Positional sense fine too, contrary to what I've seen some WB fans say

Gamboa offer more guile than Janko & strong competition for Lustig (who he pretty much replaced at Rosenborg), altho could fit both in 3-5-2
