I'm not having any laugh. There are 4 major divisions in Scotland. West and east premier and championships. 36 teams total. They all have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th XIs. Also the youth teams, u18, u15, u13, u10. That's a lot of people. There's also smaller clubs who aren't in a league. Thousands of cricketers in Scotland.

    Football > Rugby > Cricket

Well we will have to agree to disagree mate.
Im quite impressed by the structure of the game as you have highlighted, but i live here, and i have only met 1 single person in my life that plays cricket to any level.Just about every single guy i know plays golf, and almost everyone plays pool/snooker/darts....not to mention the other sports like cycling swimming running etc.

If you mean 3rd most popular team sport......that may be so.

Going down the pub and putting a quid in the pool table isn't playing a sport :smiley-laughing002:

Most people playing golf do so with their mates. Is going to the leisure centre and doing 20 laps taking part in sport? If you're in competitions then aye but otherwise you're just exercising. I don't count myself as a weightlifter because I sometimes go to the gym

Well you did say 3rd most popular! You didnt say what qualifies and why.

Mate, i quite like it myself, but it is not a popular sport in Scotland.....relative to everything i have mentioned.
We have Olympic medals at cycling and swimming and athletics.

Olympic medals mean * all. We have none in football, rugby or cricket but far more people play competitively than they do darts or snooker

    What is competitively?
Just because people play in a structured system doesnt mean it is more popular than darts or snooker.Thousands of guys play in pub leagues every week at these things.
Bowling is way more popular.....and we have always had a very decent level of competitive swimming and cycling in Scotland with loads of very high level performers, as well as the low level performers.
Squash and badminton are also hugely popular, including at the top levels.

I would rate cricket along the same lines as tennis in Scotland.Predominantly middle class and played at public schools.

If you figures to back up your views, i will happily accept them, but i would guess it is the 3rd most popular team sport as opposed to most popular participation sport.

Aye it's middle class as * but I am one of the many working class people involved

I can't really be arsed with a cricket v darts debate ffs :smiley-laughing002: One is a pub sport you can play after 4 pints and the other isn't

Australia break the WC record for highest margin of victory, been a very one sided World Cup so far a lot of runs and not a lot of wickets

Scotland 152-3 after 30 overs. Coetzer 73 not out. Should be scoring a century and getting 280+ from here
