Agreed Jc, only negative from tonight is that his stats are he has only saved 4 penalties from 38- 10% chance of him saving a penalty is a worrying statistic. Probably one of the worst GK's in Britain in terms of saving one.

Guys penalty saves are *. Rodgers needs him saving 20 penalties a day until he can go home. If after 3000 hes still no saved... tuff *. Keep going. Its like hes * scared of them.

He makes the same mistake a lot of keepers do in that he feels the only way he can save a pen is by pre-empting which way the kicker is gonna go. Played in goal myself and it's a mistake as the majority of the time the keeper flys or flops to one side before the kicker has actually connected with the ball leaving a huge open space for the ball to be simply passed into. Best way to save a pen is to watch the ball. Make the kicker do the work, if they hit it well enough you'd never save it either way but if they don't connect well, as Sammon didn't last night, you have a good chance of keeping it out.

Spot on I just wonder if he actually does any home work regarding opposition penalty takers before a game
His half arsed attempt at just falling down does not work with me anymore

Need a younger more agile and willing kid inbetween the posts now, even that wee PT keeper last nights agility is far superior
    To Gordon

Stevie Woods is our GK coach. Worries me a bit cos he wasn't exactly Peter Schmeichel if i remember correctly.

Didn't exactly do bad with Forster and I'm sure Boruc spoke highly of him too. Like managers the best players are often * coaches.

This. Its actually better if you get one that never had the best of reflexes etc as they teach them we tips of getting to the ball, positioning etc that keepers with world class reflexes dont need to bother as they just seem to save it.

Players who aren't as good take more of the coaching in, do extra drills etc to try and get there level up to the elite, that are just naturally better. This in turn seems to make a better coach imo.

Ask Fraser Forster about Stevie Woods and you’ll find out exactly how good he is.

The problem isn’t the coach, Gordon isn’t good enough.

I'd quite happily see Brendan pull a van Gaal in that position. Don't know what Dorus' record is like though. It's been obvious since Gordon's second season that we need better. If he'd maintained his first season form I don't think you'd hear many complaints.

Heading out of the transfer window with one fit keeper, a 37 year old who has played 1.5 games this season? Uh oh...
