That's true but i remember at the time thinking we wouldn't have been in last years CL groups if it wasn't for him. He's saved us more than he's cost us in his time with us imo. Granted, where i do worry is that i thought his passing was showing signs of imrovement but for the last while it seems to be going backwards again!

Nooooo Notorious... you clearly didn't get the memo that we're not meant to praise CG for his good work- we're meant to just take that for granted. CG = team scapegoat!

That was a * howler of a back pass, but I didn't see any posts in the match thread criticising the player who put him in that *-situation. He dealt with it superbly though... but again, it went largely unnoticed!

What I did notice though was some folks criticising him for a bit of slack play later in the game - I never saw it, so can't comment, but come on folks - get off the Bhoys back! He's a * good goalie and he's accepted the responsibility to play in a way that is entirely unfamiliar to him (or most GK's!).

He had an equally * back-pass in the mid-week game. He took a touch when most other GK's would have panic punted the ball ANYWHERE in or out of the park. And his resulting effort to pass the ball fell at an opposing players feet. No criticism for the back-pass, no praise for the bravery of him taking a touch and trying to play it to a teammate. Just lots of * for him giving the ball away.

Yeah he done well at the dreadful pass back but he was equally as dreadful for the goal. Our defence isn’t great and neither is he.

It was a wicked pass into the box - the type that a GK is damned for coming for, and damned if he doesn't.

But that said, Botyata's should have dealt with it, but for reasons best known to himself, he chose to let to fly past him at speed into the danger area.

We then have an attacker running in far too easily past a defender for the goal.

So before we get to the fall-guy, lets consider the defensive daydreaming. If they do their job properly, then CG doesn't have anything to do.

It was a defensive mess. CG only takes sole blame if he shouted for his defence to leave the ball... and we cannot tell from the highlights clip.

All he had to do was take 1step out and catch the ball before it bounced ,forgetting the guy who scored for a second Gordon let the ball bounce then was going to try and catch over his right shoulder instead of moving his feet and getting his body behind it .for a professional gk to be making decisions like that is mind boggling

Never looked too clever for their goal tbh, thought some of his distribution was pretty good though, but i always feel that he's gonna make a bawz up at some stage of every game.

Really want us to invest in a good young keeper next summer.

He was soft as * he makes a lot of mistakes that goal reminded me of the England goal in the last min when he basically stayed on his line. Def need a new keeper

Exactly, that cross at the end of the England game is pretty standard for a keeper to come and get. He really doesn’t know how to come out for crosses and corners at all.

Always noticed he couldn’t deal with most crosses when he was with Sunderland

Special mention tonight for Gordon. If that early chance for them goes in, we were in big trouble.

Brilliant from Gordon. We concede then and it’s most likely bye bye EL.

Much better tonight. More confident with the ball at his feet and a couple of good saves.
