Don't want Bain anywhere near us..

    Nowhere near good enough..

Scott Fox is better than him in my opinion, and we released him!.

Sutton: Celtic should sell Gordon to Chelsea for £3 million
Chris Sutton believes Celtic would be wrong to not sell Craig Gordon to Premier League leaders Chelsea, amid rumours the Blues have bid £3 million for the Scottish keeper.

Wouldn't think so. Courtois is the first choice and rightly so. Sirigu won't want to be sitting on a bench again - you would think.
Gordon is ideal for them as he is good and if needed to be called upon, will do a job for them. But he isn't in his "prime" (yeah yeah keepers play till the late 40s) any more like Sirigu is.

Hence my nod to someone like Costil (open to other suggestions) who can come in and be a strong number one while we develop Bain further. Short term I'd be happy with Bain till end of the season. For all we need a keeper for these days.

Understand. Just think Bain's development would be greatly reduced if plays half a season with us then benched for circa 2 seasons, would much prefer no.1 with greater experience and Bain allowed to continue his 1st team development at Dundee playing week in.

If Chelski want Gordon Tell them to give us whatever they get for Begovic as he is only a backup for them as Gordon would be

Was actually going to say that TonyStark, listen it wouldn't be the 1st time in football that a buying club has slipped another team a few pennies under the table and said "we buy him in a season or two".

Obviously not Celtic FC of course, referring to a couple of transactions down South when I was just a mere pup :)

Not one CB. The Gordon scenario has really came out of left field if honest. BR had GKs in mind when he first arrived so if £3m comes our way I'm sure he has ones in mind but wouldn't like to guess at this point.

It must be a difficult decision there must be a bit of him thinking I could cover any loss of money over the 2 years I was out and I could make a decent wedge sitting on the bench but he might want to stay and think he will be no1 or on the other hand he might think Brendan will replace him in summer! One things for sure I thought we might move a Gk or 2 on this month didn't expect it to possibly be Gordon!!!

I'd take 3 or 4 million for him. Yes his form has improved since the start of the season but I still don't have much confidence in him and I don't think he's been as good as a lot of people have made him out to be. £3m for a 34 year old we got for * all is a good piece of business, although we should try to squeeze 4 or 5 million out those London Hun *.

Craig Gordon is in line for a bumper new deal from Celtic after the Parkhead side insisted that they will stand firm in the face of interest from Chelsea.

The English Premier League leaders have had a bid for the 34-year-old goalkeeper turned down, and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has maintained that Gordon is not for sale.

There was a suggestion that Gordon himself wished to speak to Chelsea to ascertain the package on offer but when asked if he expected the keeper to be at Celtic this time next week, Rodgers was absolute.

“Yeah,” he said. “Yeah, absolutely. Because the strength is with the club. There are 18 months left here and where do I get another goalkeeper at this stage, when I am looking to build something?

“It’s been a long, hard road for Craig in the opening period here to get to the level where I wanted him to be at but he took it on board and trained hard and tactically he understood it. So I’m not really of the mindset to throw all of that out and be left having to look for another Champions League goalkeeper.”

Rodgers called Gordon in for a chat the day when the formal offer was received from Chelsea and he has intimated that there will be a jump in salary for the keeper, currently believed to be earning around £12k a week, with a new deal.

The Celtic manager also looked to clarify Gordon’s contract situation by maintaining that he has 18 months left on his current deal, with the option for that additional year always lying with the club.

"Craig is enjoying it here but as a club we have to look after him as well,” said Rodgers. "That's the message. I always say, 'Look after the roof when it's sunny. Don't wait to fix it when it's raining'. The best clubs do that. Craig is in a brilliant position now. He's in pole position.”

There is always a fear that if a player agitates for the move to go ahead that the club’s hand is forced, but Rodgers has no doubts about that happening with Gordon.

“I have spoken to him at length,” said the Hoops boss. “He’s a good guy. I was only aware of it yesterday so I sent him a message and said come in, let’s have a chat. He’s cool and calm. It’s nice and flattering for him.

“Listen, he also respects the position he was in a few years ago. He wasn’t playing, Celtic gave him an opportunity and I think in the last six months his game I think everyone can see has gone to another level, he has regained his international place.

“Chelsea is a fantastic club but it’s also about what you want and for him now it has to be about playing and playing games and playing for as long as he can.

“But again: there is no interest to sell. There has been absolutely nowhere near the valuation and I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it again: no player will ever come out of Celtic cheap, if they are to go. That’s not something I would be looking to do at this stage, with four days to go.”

Sutton has a passionate hatred for Gordon that I've never understood.

He struggles to give any credit and is super fast to get on his back.
