Zaluska is on the bench but the manager still doesn't play him. :giggle1:

Signing DDV has proved to be a smart move as Craig has upped his game massively since.
His distribution isn't so bad. Just needs to keep it simple, find a full back or centre back and he'll be fine.

Aside from nearly decapitating Liam Boyce, Gordon has been excellent since returning to the team.

The break seems to have taken him out of the spotlight (although it meant De Vries has been sort of thrown under the bus), and it's lit a bit of a fire under his backside.

He looks significantly more comfortable playing the ball out now, too. It's obviously something he's been working hard on in training. We've gone from definitely needing a 'keeper to it not being such a priority.

I've been a heavy critic, but credit where it's due, he's upped his game.

Without a doubt he has responded well to being dropped and looks back to his best now. I think the form of Sviatchenko in front of him has helped and now Simunovic working back into things as well has helped.

This. He was outstanding having Van Dijk and Denayer in front of him, it can't have done his confidence any good going from that to Ambrose and Boyata.

Can see the argument about it. But then its the goalkeepers job (in my opinion) to organise a defence and take leadership of it. He doesn't do that.
He was blessed with van dijk and denayer. And now blessed again.

He is a decent keeper. Not as good as he once was, but he isn't terrible.
But what is obvious is he is getting progressively worse.
Responded well since coming back in the side, but as you say, he has had a good pair in front of him and he hasn't been called in to action as much.

Best thing to come out of the DDV signing so far has seemed to be the shake gordan has got, looked brilliant last night has along way to come with his distribution of the ball

Great shotstopper, terrible with his feet.
Every pass back goes out the park.
I'd rather have him in goal than DDV though.

Being saying this for long enough mate. In my opinion we'd need a good few quid to get 'maybe' better when this cash would be fat better spent on 2 mids.

Wouldn't have lost half the goals to barca if he was in the net.

Dunno about that, but he'd definitely have saved that free kick.

He has done well since he came back, apart from the odd moment of madness, he's been pretty solid.

Getting dropped made him smarten up, lets face it there was no competition previously
He is a great shot stopper and has excellent reflexes
However, his distribution is suspect at best and his decision making on when to "come out" for the ball is just rotten....

So you balance it up, could we get better - maybe but would cost a fair bit or need to take a little bit of a risk
However we really need to invest in other positions to continue the Rodgers revolution.

With this in mind, can someone explain to me why Stevie Woods and the other coaches are not putting Gordon through some basic drills that allow him to kick the ball....accurately....in a manner where we retain possession.....SIMPLE

I thought his distribution in recent games has overall been pretty good tbh.

Status quo - solid shot stopper with poor distribution. That said, he's been miles better than he was against Astana when it comes to moving the ball.

I didn't really get the excessive Gordon bashing!

Citeh paid 17m (acc to wiki) for Bravo for a Neuer-esque type keeper and he hasn't overly impressed me. He's being prone to a calamity or three and i'd like to have seen him behind Laurel and Hardy last season. * me, that would shoot the confidence of Neuer himself. He's not perfect Craig but as i stated above i think it'd cost a fair amount to get better.

Ps- De vries's own distribution wasn't brilliant from what i saw. As a shot-stopper he's no match for Gordon imo.

    Definitely playing better.

His shot stopping ability has never really been in doubt.
