Is he still playing,i thought he was working in Butlins or somewhere.

I don't think we should be taking on injury plagued footballers.

looking through this thread I cant for the life of me, see why any Celtic fan, would want to give this * a league cup medal, or any * cup medals at our expense, a * that would go into our box at corners, and never once did he do it to any other team, but ours. he is of the same mould as mc fadden over rated tossers.

In a perfect world we would get FF for 2 mill then Gordon in as proper quality back up.
But I suspect he will not want to come as his wages will be massively lower here than at Sunderland.
He's not played for a year either and not been on top form for at least 3 years, so to chuck him straight in at the deep end would be risky at best and atrocious at worst.

I really want to see us push the boat out for Forster and make sure he signs. If he is the only signing we make this summer I will be genuinely happy.

I only want Gordon if we don't get Forster, or if Gordon is happy enough to come here on 20k a week and to be backup keeper, but I can't see that. He's not getting games as it is so why would he want more of the same?

I'd rather FF, he has proved he is good enough.

This discussion has been done to death. If Forster wants to sign then give him another season. If not then he should get to *, he's lucky to be number 1 for Celtic and he won't do any better. I know very little about Craig Gordon but it doesn't sound like it's a good time to be signing him.

FF first and foremost and if needs be GG as backup to him as FF more then deserves to be out number 1 and GG needs to prove his fitness levelsnot point making him our number 1 when FF gives far more stability along the back line since they all know each other better.

If we're signing FF, which we should, then it'll be on a lot longer contract than just a year.

If we can't get FF then I'd take Gordon. Would take Bell or Kello as a back-up.

Excellent keeper. If his fitness can be guaranteed, I'd jump at the chance to sign him on a free.

Signing Gordon could be like telling Zaluska he's the new number one. His injuries are always going to be the issue. Why risk it when we have a perfectly good agreement to take Forster on the cheap. He's young, he's proved himself here twice and he's nearly everybody's first choice.

I think if we cant get forster only then will this guy be signed. Besides zaluska done great at the start and never really deserved the no1 taking off him when FF returned. So injurys or not, this guy on the cheap will be a good signing if FF doesnt sign

I personally would prefer him to FF if he can prove his fitness. If the worst we are going to to is get 1 of Boruc, Gordon or FF then I think we'll be alright.

    Yes please!

When fit, Craig Gordon is an excellent goalkeeper. At his best he's better than Allan McGregor and miles ahead of Fraser Forster. I would have him in goals for Celtic in a heartbeat.

The big question mark hanging over Craig Gordon is obviously his fitness. His injury problems mean there would be an element of risk involved in signing him. It is a risk I would take though because he's such a good goalkeeper when he is fit.

There are currently 3 threads in this section about 3 different goalkeepers we may be interested in signing - Artur Boruc, Craig Gordon and Fraser Forster. I would be happy with any of the 3 of them.

Agree that Zaluska should not have been dropped. On the subject of Boruc, has he expressed an interest in coming back?

Saw Gordon won all time best save in the English Premier League, some save too.

I would definitely like Forster to stay. Trying to understand what the delay is (they have had two years to talk about it!)

Regardless I think Craig Gordon would be an excellent signing.

    1. There is no doubting his quality
    2. Should be approaching his peak years
    3. Needs a run of games to get his confidence and form back
    4. He is Scottish (back to the 1967 hey day of home grown players)

Personally I hope Celtic are already trying to sign Gordon. Forster and Gordon for Celtic equals two quality keepers.

Yes he has been injury prone but so is glass legs, Robin Van Persie, and look at the season he has just had.

Gordon needs a fresh start. Celtic should be that start.

LENNON warned Fraser Forster’s agent last night to stop messing him about.

The Celtic gaffer is desperate for the on-loan Newcastle keeper to sign a new deal.
A £2million fee has been agreed between the clubs.
But Lennon revealed Forster’s advisor hasn’t returned his calls.
And he rapped: “This is a priority. We will get Sunday out of the way and we really want to keep him.
“We have put a decent offer on the table, which we know because there is a clause in his contract.
“It’s a case of nailing down personal terms now. If you can get hold of his agent, we would appreciate it.
“He is being very elusive. We’re trying to make contact with him but that has been very difficult to do in the last two weeks.”
Forster is now mulling over his future and he is uncertain whether his international chances would suffer being in the SPL.
Lennon said: “I don’t see any reason why he can’t do it here, I really don’t. If he is playing as consistently well as he has been doing, then the exposure he gets here.
“And again, we can go on about the differential between England and Scotland. Is it so big? I am not so sure.
“Sure, it is in the top half of Premier League. But if you look down in bottom half and certainly in the Premier League there is not much of a difference. There is in terms of finance but some of players there are grossly overpaid — and I’d have never thought I would say that.
“The very top players get what is coming to them, but when we have gone in for players some of the figures are telephone numbers.
“You think ‘No, I will go elsewhere and try and find better’.
“I think Fraser would like to stay. We’ve had that chat already.
“His performances in Europe and consistency in the league here, whether or not people think he is tested enough here is another thing.
“But the progress he has made is phenomenal, to the point that people don’t talk much about Artur Boruc, and he was a world class keeper.”
Lennon cannot wait on Forster forever as he would need to find a replacement if he turns down the contract offer.
He added: “We can’t control it if others are telling him differently.”
