It was about getting a victory just not a military one I'm sure you know the term blood sacrifice that's exactly what it was and they made it worse did they what about the mass poverty and all the tenement buildings they where there before 1916 weren't they? So what just leave them * em the workers in the ICA knew exactly what they where doing they sacrificed themselves to give future generations a chance of a decent life but no De Valera * it all the stupid snakey *

Would you be one of the men spitting on the leaders of 1916 after it was over?

I love the eurovision song contest

i thought berkovic & gravesen were actually good players for us & not flops who never got a fair chance & was made scapegoats

i thought lee naylor was the worst crosser of the ball ive ever seen

MON's 2001-2004 team wasnt far of world class & if we did qualify for the knockout stages in the CL i thought we would have had a good chance of reaching the final

The tenements were there before 1916 and that's exactly my point. The people in the tenements were starving and were riddled with disease, but they couldn't go anywhere. Do you think the volunteers fighting a war they knew they couldn't win made life better for people living in slums? I could understand fighting if we had a chance of winning, but the gobshites fought when they had * all ammunition.

I wouldn't have spat on the leaders, but the people had every right to be angry.

Stop saying it was a war The easter rising wasn't a war it was intended to be but after O'Neill said no its pretty clear exactly what the IRB had planed they achieved it if they didn't we wouldn't be having this conversation now and what point are you making about the slums? They where because of the British government we tried to remove the British government to try and stopping things like from happening the first place now with the power of hindsight tell me what they should have done

The point I'm making about the slums is that the Rising made the people in the tenements worse off then they already were which is true. Yes it inspired a lot of people and maybe if they didn't do it we wouldn't be having this conversation who knows what would have happened. The volunteers thought they could catch the Brits off guard who were fighting in the first world war. They fought with the intention of winning even though they had no chance.

Looking back on it now maybe it was a good idea, but not at that time. If they had been more organised and planned it better we could have put up a much better fight.

The easter rising wasn't about putting up a fight it was about about sacrifice to wake people up to the idea of republicanism not * winning we would never ever beat Britain on a real battlefield if the rebellion wasn't about republicanism it wouldn't of happened it would of been a guerilla war straight from the start it's important to note most of the movements in Ireland at the time weren't republican they where nationalist that's the key difference I'll ask again instead of stopping the main reason ( even if the free staters did * all after it) for the slums what would you differently do you even want an independent Ireland?

Even if it was about sacrifice the Rising caused great suffering for people living in slums. On your question about what I would have done about the slums, I probably would have asked the Brits for money to help the people as they would have wanted to keep us happy after not getting home rule. I've already told you I would vote for a United Ireland, just because I don't agree with how the volunteers went about things doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for a United Ireland.

    Same here, it's awful catchy.

I especially like it when German fans sing it right enough whenever they're playing an English team.
