I was willing to give Ronny a full season to sort out his team and somewhat poor start. My patience did waver a wee bit but I never voiced it. I feared the worst when we drew Inter but once I realised we were on an impressive run and playing well my confidence grew.

We lost this in the first leg to individual errors but the fightback last week and the brave performance last night was excellent. Proud of the team and the management. I look forward to our march towards a treble and next season's European campaign. I just hope we add to the squad asap.

Ronny Deila has taken us from a team that played punt and chase for the majority of the time in Europe last season, to a team that is extremely comfortable on the ball, in every area of the park. Last year, the whole game plan was a long ball from Forster up to Samaras, so it seemed anyway. Last night, even with 10 men, we were still looking to play out from the back, and every player is more than happy to get on the ball. That has come from Deila. I think he has the players believing in themselves now, that they are capable of getting the ball down and playing football. There isn't one player in the starting X1 last night that doesn't look comfortable on the ball, and the management team deserve a lot of credit for that. When we do lose possession, we have also then got probably the fittest Celtic team I've seen to get it back. A lot to be extremely positive about at the minute.

Was not keen on RD from the start, but even thought I maybe talked out of turn I was wanting to see how the season progressed and especially come January window with his ideas. Those were summed up by the two DU players and right away that put a huge smile on my face as that further added to the latter performances.

Team is looking really fit and athletic, but with the likes of Bitton, Commons and GMS that flair is there too.

    Liking how it's progressing.

Ac Milan away in the Last 16 - Robbed
Juventus at home last 16 - Robbed
Inter Away in Europa Last 32 - Robbed

Three Italian teams, three games in which we were BLATANTLY cheated by either a corrupt or inept ref. I'd have to say I'm leaning towards corrupt

Not forgetting the Udinese lad who took a dive in our box for a pk that you could say knocked us out of the EL too.

Exactly this. They have everything in both legs and could've (should've) progressed. * refs and two awful Gordon howlers cost us. We were easily the better side just a shame the better team didn't win this time.

Very optimistic and excited for next season:shamrock:

Celtic did us proud considering the obstacles that European refs and UEFA usually put in our way.
Celtic's coefficient ranking should see us go up quite a few places.
Normally UEFA take the 1st season of the last 5 including this one from the following years rankings.
So far with more matches still to be played which will most likely see it changed Celtic have jumped 10 places from 54th to 44th. This is after the mentioned coefficients are removed and before this season is finished.
Using that method, currently there are still 7 teams playing in Europe that are currently below us in the rankings and all of them are in Europa.

I don't get people who don't see the progress here. We over run a very good team, lets not say they are brilliant but they are leagues away from us. I am proud of every player and the manager. Bring on Aberdeen and a treble and it's been a brilliant season. We don't lose as many games as we would have under Lennon.

Giving away 4 goals over the two legs could prove a blessing in disguise. It might make City think Denayer could use another year at Celtic, and it might keep the bigger teams away from VVD.

If we can keep both, we should be even better next season than we are at the moment.

    Exciting times ahead :celt_2:

No we needed VVD to play a blinder . The * isn't going to sign a contract here and will be moved on in the summer regardless-his value may have gone down now though .

Only read a small part of this thread...

Anyway, the worst game I've ever seen was the Porto one. I keep telling the girlfriend I'm going to watch it with her but I've never had the balls :(

We should have had a penalty against Juventus for the holding, something they wouldn't have done again had the ref been brave enough to give the penalty. "Robbed" though? 5-0 aggregate loss wasn't robbed, they just knew how to play against us.

"A" penalty? Every single corner they were grabbing players and throwing them into the goals. That totally nullified any threat we had from corners or set pieces and denied us at least 3 penalties.

The game was then over after the first leg so the 5-0 is misleading.

They kept doing it because they kept getting away with it. Had "A" penalty been given, they would have completely stopped doing it.

They just let us have the ball a lot, then countered and scored. Don't agree with us being robbed in that tie at all.

We were robbed of any chance of winning the game. I'm not saying we would have won with a competent ref, but we would have never got a favourable result with that ref.

    Corrupt in my opinion.
