Celtic eyeing summer swoop for Arsenal starlet Chris Willock as Patrick Roberts replacement
The 19-year-old winger made his first-team debut as a substitute in the EFL Cup earlier this season
Celtic are eyeing a summer swoop for Arsenal youngster Chris Willock.
The SPL leaders are set to lose Manchester City starlet Patrick Roberts when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
And Celtic chiefs have earmarked Gunners academy graduate Willock as a possible replacement.
The 19-year-old winger made his first-team debut as a substitute in the 4-0 EFL Cup win against Nottingham Forest back in September.
His only other appearance for Arsene Wenger's side came the following month when they beat Reading in the same competition.

Not sure Arsenal would simply sell him to us for a decent fee at 19. Seems like a promising enough player and we could well be interested but I can't see it being permanent. Definitely intriguing, but not sure if it's the best option as a replacement to Roberts.

We will need cover with Paddy going. And wee Jamesy can be prone to the odd injury.:fear: But Brendan knows what he needs and I can't see us dragging our heels come summer as Brendan will want to be operating with his squad sorted for the qualifiers.

Willock is out of contract this summer and could be tempted by the chance of regular football in the Champions League and the Scottish champions would only have to pay a nominal training fee compared to a larger sum for English suitors.
And Celtic chiefs have earmarked Gunners academy graduate Willock as a possible replacement, according to the Daily Mirror.

I spoke to an arsenal fan about this who said he's nowhere good enough for our first team which I think Roberts is so not excited about this one

Fast and skilful plus comfortable on both feet so could play on right or left wing, looks decent to me especially if we get him on a free. Only 19 so plenty time to improve.

Lightning quick and a real swagger about him.
Roberts, Willock and Solanke please Brendan, with a classy CM and CB chucked in as well, why no.

Could you imagine us getting Willock and Solanke for what would probably be about £1-1.5 million total in comp. When a few years we were spending that sort of money on backwards signings like Amido Balde, Bangura, Pukki etc.
