I'm not too impressed with the Killen and McDonald signings and I hope that we are still in the market for a top striker. We NEED to be.

Miller and Beattie need to be sold.

GS will keep onto Zurawski I reckon (although I would prefer to see him go with Miller and Beattie) but Killen and McDonald are not the standard of players we should be signing if we want to go further in Europe. In fact, if we want to make it into/past the group stages we need to invest in a top striker to partner JVoH!

However, Killen and McD were both bosman signings which is good business. But we REALLY need to sign a classy partner for Hesselink!

To be honest through, I don't think we will now...

Hate to be a pedant, but McDonald cost us £700,000!

I hope we get rid of all the other strikers too & bring in a good un, not the hunchback!!

I'm beginning to have doubts about a big name striker coming now. I heard that a big name was to sign in the next day or so, and that would be the last "big" signing. But I'm hearing it will probably be another midfielder.

have too argree (not the part bout miller tho) we seem to be going for the best players in other spl tems which would means we should keep winning all the time in spl but wen we go to europe we are not as good, again thats down to a poor spl. seems to me we have no ambitions for europe and to be a force against the best by wasting our £ on shity spl players. thats ma opinion.:38:

Look here's how it is, we can buy either young talented spl players to get into the CL next season/big named old geezers (something that the huns tried when they where in power, look at how that looked out) who used to be alright at higher levels but are * now (gravesen/jarosik)/players who can be bought for low prices and be jacked up for poor unsuspecting premiership sides (miller) and maybe the odd world class signing.

I don't know how you guys can go and think that world-class players are clambering to sign for Celtic and play in the SPL when they are most obviously not, with the league we're in we have to rely on GS signing some great players that have been off the public radar for a while and who have ambitions to play in the CL because if the spotlight is shined on them they'll be snatched by a bigger club (Appiah).

no really talking about signing world class players, just players who have proved that they are good enough to play in europe and against the best, am sure theres some1 that has proven himself in europe thats better than the guys we are signing who is not world class.

The transfer window is only opening tomorrow, Killen/McDonald are there to ensure our qualification to Europe next year, they've proven themselves to score a fair amount of goals in the SPL between them unlike Beattie/Miller and they cost next to nothing, Strach has learnt his lesson from this season that you can't just concentrate on the CL you have to focus on the games at home as well (We where lucky to have Jan, Naylor, Boruc and Naka pull us through the end of this season and hey they're all Strach's signings).

Don't worry I'm 100% sure WGS has some aces up his sleeves for over the summer. So have faith in the wee man, he hasn't let us down before (well besides signing Virgo, but he's allowed a few mistakes :84:)

The futures bright, the futures green and white :50:

I really like you, nice post & good backing of the manager/team - nice to see some optimistic posts.

This pre-season is going to be dynamite!!

I think he's planning on getting the whole squad together ASAP, so as he can hammer into them the new formation & playing system & also sort out whoose going to play where - expect to see a lot of players getting shuffled about!:celt_2:

People are complaining about Killen, McDonald etc but lets compare, Chelsea are signing free transfers of Sidwell and Pizarro (both are good players but nothing special), now these two arent any better than what they got.

Killen and McDonald are the two best strikers outside the OF, Naismith is the only other of note. Is this really a disaster? we have 2 strikers for 700k, its not like we've blown our budget or anything

I'm a bit confused Dempsey, when this signing was just a rumour is wasn't a good signing. Now he has signed it's not a bad signing?.

To say we got 2 strikers for 700k is not blowing the budget might be true but these players are still gonna cost in wages, and wages that could have been put towards a striker of real class that will help us to the next level in the CL.

I now do not see WGS signing a quality striker, unless Hibs sign one and we buy him off them in january
