Someone who could potentially take over when Rodgers leaves would be ideal. I'd love Clarke or McKay. Though in saying that it's very rare that someone who was a recently a manager would then decide to go to being a number 2. McKay is probably more understandable if it were to happen to possibly help rebuild his reputation.

Other than that, it'd be good if Rodgers got his preferred choice.

Aye but some players just aren't in to it, Mulgrew, Commons, Stokes for example I think woundn't be that interested in getting super fit and improving as they know that they're probably never wanting to leave Celtic they're happy and just want to play games here. Compared to other players like Van Dijk, Denayer, Bitton, Johansen, Roberts and guys like that who are looking to move onto bigger and better things as soon as they can.

Would be good to see some fresh faces but guys we know. Like Larsson, Gerrard and Carragher :56: football legends and big names that players would want to come and work under.

Steve Clarke or John Hughes. Not sure Hughes would come as an associate coach but he knows the Scottish game and is well respected among other clubs. Think it would be a perfect combo.

Can't understand why anyone would want Mackay anywhere near our club.

Phil Neville would be decent as well, no connection to Rodgers but he seems to have done fairly well in management/coaches and could be a good number 2 to him.

He should pick for himself. I don't want him to be given someone just because they "know" Celtic and what we stand for etc etc etc, or beacause they are a Celtic Legend. * that. Let him get someone he trusts and can work with.

I disagree with almost all of that. As I said, he should be able to pick for himself and as far as I'm concerned he's worked with none of those before, bar Steve Clarke obviously. I'd take Clarke.

You dont need to have worked with guys before though, you should be looking to bring in guys suited to the job wether you worked with them before or not.

I agree, but I don't think Rodgers would pick Mjällby or Larsson personally, if any of them would be up for it is another story. He doesn't need to have worked with them before, but he should have the final say in who his second in command should be.

Steve Clarke is the choice for me.

Whether he wants to be an understudy again...I have my doubts.

Highly unlikely it will be Steve Clarke.

While they do have a working past at Chelsea when Rodgers was head of the youth set-up and Clarke was assistant to Mourinho. Clarke sees himself as a manager not assistant (aside from maybe the possibility of a certain individual getting his nose in at Old Trafford). He was assistant to Zola and Gullit but both these circumstances are a bit different in comparison to the present.

Managers tend to take people they can trust and have trusted previously into new positions. Colin Pascoe had a good reputation at Liverpool and came with Rodgers from Swansea. Although he left under some circumstances, apparently not all down to Rodgers.

I reckon Steve Woods will stay on from the present set up.

I'd love to see Carragher here.
