    Watching this right now Doc.

He goes into detail about our "transition to defense and attack" and he doesn't look or the Management speaking look at anything else. Interesting that because if you have educated yourself on these things you can find them in Footballing books, Coaching sessions and others which I learned from reading up on Positiespel.

I find that under what he was talking about in "transition" that we struggle in our transition at times (not everywhere on the park), from certain areas of the field, more noticeably Callum McGregor. He's has been fatal from trying to use continuous ball-oriented shifts when in possession, he does the opposite and gets caught up in nearly every game we have played. He was at fault during Hapoel beer sheva at Home when they scored two of the goals, this didn't come as a coincidence when he got subbed off and Rodgers saying after the game that his inexperience really showed in that game. Not only in that instance did was he at fault but at Inverness at the weekend there when he tried to work his way out from turning from the right center of the park and trying to proceed the pass to the left but with Inverness pressing he got caught. That simply isn't Celtic class and he lacks quality. We really need a quality Midfielder in there that can carry out the required roles and this must come in January.

Also, he touches up on Jozo Šimunović speculation that he is solid here. Got to admit I find Šimunović a fresh bit of air especially his possession contributions, he is fearless to put the ball forward which is great.

Chris Davies is right on the narrative that a Striker is as important as the Defender when defending, shame I find we are lacking the organisation on that, I hope that Rodgers and him are looking at Leicesters defensive transitions when they won the League, it was simple and so effective that it won them the league.

I find that he is being apologist for De Vries on the merit he is entering a new Club. I mean, he could be right he is with him day in day out on the training ground while we are working or whatever. But the performances have not been satisfying.

Came off as ignorant during the end when asked about the pen decision. I find him wrong on that one, clear pen for me. Sort of made the impression he wanted to * off out of the press room at Lennoxtown.

Interesting take on things. I agree that Davies was wrong about the penalty and clearly couldn't wait to get out of the press conference (not that I blame him one bit for that, what with the way the Scottish press are).

I don't think he was being an apologist for DDV; he was merely saying how the management see that situation. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Could you explain the bit in bold and also go into more detail about where you think we struggle in the transition to defence, please?

Yeah like I said M, I was not at all convinced about his interview, seemed very much on the defensive, like he had something to hide, it was not a calm and composed interview by any stretch of the imagination. Future Celtic manager ? I don't think so. I really don't think so.

On Calum McGregor I agree with you, I don't think he is anymore than a journeyman attacking midfielder. Too lightweight for me and I don't think he is Celtic class. The need for a DM should have been addressed the last transfer window, Brendan talking about wanting another creative midfielder is confusing too, given that he allowed a creative midfielder in Scott Allan to go out on loan. Davies couldn't get out of that interview chair quickly enough, and like you I think he was wrong on the penalty. Clear cut penalty and Red Card.

Its mainly the attackers who don't come back to cover, the only player who adheres to this transition is Sinclair (which is expected given he has played under Rodgers system for years). Forrest never does it and Roberts does it have the time he can be arsed. What im meaning with that is, the outside player comes back into the half center (between the half D outside the box and the wing) so it supports the defence and forces or leaves our wingbacks to push out or prevent any sort of advancement from the opposition to penetrate wide.

I can see what you mean by the defensive, personally I think it was the ignorance attitude coming out, like it gives the impression that talking to the media/channeling messages through them is just a chore and when asked good questions its delivered in a pompous 'squad' reply like if one player does bad on the weekend it gets quality reluctant towards this squad rhetoric.

Absolutely 100%. Many are clutching at straws saying hes a 'young player' or 'he can develop' hes 23, not 18. Hes neither CL quality or even play-off quality, maybe third round quality but that's about it. He should be sold in January to a Club like you are stating, I find him liability when he is playing majority of the time. Don't get me wrong he is fairly good going forward (if he gets the space or creates it) but apart from that he just isn't impressive for me.

THERE was a world of difference between Celtic’s games against Manchester City and Dundee last week, in terms of the stakes and the comparative size of the matches, but for Chris Davies and his side, the approach was exactly the same.

The Hoops’ future prospects of progress in the Champions League may have potentially hung on the line in their mammoth clash with Man City last Wednesday, while Saturday’s match was a return to league duty on the road to Dundee, but Celtic’s assistant manager said the build-up and mindset had to be the same for the Scottish champions for both ties, otherwise failure was the only outcome.

It’s a cliché to say ‘the most important game is the next one’ but Brendan Rodgers’ right-hand man is a champion of that train of thought and he believes that Wednesday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Pep Guardiola’s side and the weekend win at Dens Park, came by applying it to Celtic’s preparation.

And who could argue otherwise? By sticking to their principles, Celtic have won 11, drawn three and lost three of their 17 competitive matches so far which have seen them take on teams from as far and wide as the top of La Liga to the middle of League One in Scotland.

Almost 50 goals have been scored by the Celts in that run too and with the international break now upon us, Davies told the Celtic View in an exclusive interview that having time to reflect on Celtic’s progress so far shows that the management team’s simple but effective approach to treat every game the same is working well.

With a couple of days to reflect since the last few games, how have you viewed Celtic’s success recently?

The Man City game was worldwide with everyone watching it, and although the Dundee game was slightly different, it was equally important to us to get the win – and not just a win, but to win in that way; away from home with a clean sheet, a 1-0 win and to perform well. They were equally as important. For the Man City game we were really pleased with the performance level because sometimes your performance can be one thing and the result another, but we had a good performance and a draw was probably a fair result. We could have won it but the performance level was really good. We had a game-plan leading into the match, trying to utilise our own game model, which is about a high level of intensity and the crowd helped with that aspect of it because they really pushed us on. That worked well and we found we unsettled Man City, but it wasn’t just chasing the ball, we had to be technically intelligent with where and how we pressed. On the flipside, offensively, when we got the ball, we showed more confidence than in the first game and showed what a threat we are, not only in creating chances, but in counter-attack as well as set-pieces. If we want to be a good team at that level we’ve got to be team that can score and counter-attack from set-plays and in open play as well and we did all that so that was really positive.

Was there a particular sense of satisfaction with the first goal, given you and John Kennedy work on all the set-pieces?

We work on it and we do them all the time. In every game we’ll try to create one or two ‘worked set-plays,’ as we call them, based on the opponents and the players we’ve got to try to exploit any vulnerability in their organisation. They don’t always come off but it puts a seed of doubt in the opponents’ minds. When you look at a team and they have a set pattern or something they’ve worked on and prepared, it makes you feel like they’re a team that are really organised. So even if they don’t come off, there’s that fact but this one was perfect because we saw the vulnerability, we set something up, and it worked perfectly and it was such a crucial moment in the game as well – right at the beginning when we needed that confidence straight away and the crowd needed it. It was fantastic that it came off. We’ll always do them and when they come off we enjoy them. Like any tactical play you try to introduce, it’s always down to the quality of the players. We can say there’s a high line or we want Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic to time their movement and then Scott to drill that ball across and we can tell James Forrest to run, but if they can’t perform what we’re asking then it’s useless, so it’s brilliant to see it work and it’s all about the players and how they take on these instructions, and they did it well. You need to see these successes and we’ve had a lot in the first few months we’ve been here. It builds that training mentality because it lets you know that the work you’re doing is going to help you in the game. Players can recognise and see that and then their buy-in to what you are doing increases and that’s another aspect as to why that was a positive for us. It really got us going and got us started in the game.

CD: 'About performing for us. They are a top team, this is a top competition. You have to be at your top level to get results.

CD: 'They're a very good team, saw that at Celtic Park. Have analysed that first game and we have a plan to take to Germany.'

CD: '@Leighgriff09 is not very well and wasn't at training and won't be travelling out.'

CD: 'Jozo Simunovic is building up his progression after being out for a long time so he won't travel.'

CD: 'Kolo Toure still has a slight issue so he is building up his rehab & @kierantierney1 has his issue as well & won't be travelling

CD: 'Most important thing for us is we aren't looking too far ahead, just looking at performance level.'

CHRIS Davies knows Celtic will face a top side in Borussia Monchengladbach in tomorrow’s (Tuesday) UEFA Champions League clash, but the Hoops assistant manager hopes the Bhoys have learned from their first meeting.

The Celts lost 2-0 at Paradise to the Bundesliga outfit, and head to Germany without several key players, but Davies says the Scottish champions have a plan and he hopes to see the team execute it.

“It's just about performing for us,” he said. “They are a top team, this is a top competition. This is the top level we all want to be at. You have to be at your top level to get results. They are a very good team and we saw that at Celtic park.

“They’re expansive, open, good with the ball and play quickly. Defensively they are organised as well so we’ve analysed that first game and we have a plan we can take to Germany now and hopefully we can execute the plan and get the result.”

The Bhoys trained at Lennoxtown this morning prior to flying to Germany for tomorrow’s Group C game and the assistant manager revealed several of the Hoops first-team players will miss Tuesday’s Euro clash through either injury or illness.

He added: "Leigh Griffiths is not very well. He wasn't at training so he won't be travelling out.

“Jozo Simunovic is building up his progression back into the team. He was out for a long time so he won't travel.

“Kolo Toure still has a slight issue and KT has his issue as well.”

Complete domination haha. Wee stuttery won't like that..

Before all this nonsense anyway , Chris Davies seems a real good addition to the squad, always interacting well with player's on camera etc and seems a calm influence also..

We've got it good just now..

Great reply to the question asked.

McGhee is a poor loser. Very rarely keeps his dignity after a sore loss. It's a side of him he lets himself down with.

And that's all he needs to be to be honest..

Mark McGhee making a total clown of his self 2 seasons on the spin at Fir Park..

The thing that get's me is, he's an ex Tim, that's fine, he shouldn't automatically go out his way for us...but certainly shouldn't go out his way to treat us any differently to the other 10 side's in the league. We've pumped them silly twice this year before Saturday and I'd say the 2 nil at Celtic Park is probably the most overly complimentary Brendan has been about any domestic side visiting us (and pre match again) , yet this crank thinks we're fair game for his huffy mood swings..

    Fat *..

I'll be betting against them this weekend. Certainty to lose..
