Hopefully the signing will have a knock on effect to the squad and make Armstrong, McGregor and rogic up their game when they are all fit!

Im pleased cause the guy is a good player. More quality is needed. But loan deals are not the answer for us to progress in the long run. If we want to act like a big club on a European level then we need to stop operating with loan deals all the time

Disagree. Not in a million years would we be able to buy players like this.

18 months is * ideal. Any player with serious potential rarely lasts longer than that with us before being snapped up by a club down south.

"If we want to act like a big club on a European level" wake up and smell the coffee my friend. We don't, and never again will, have the finances to dine at Europe's top table

So we've just to accept it then? No aspire to compete at that level? We've all just to say we'll never again compete at that level aye? Optimism

But your right about the 18 month thing. If it was just to the end of the season then it would be really pointless

Simply arent able to afford players of this level on permanent deals. To get players of this calibre and Roberts’ for 18+ months is only good for us, permanent or not.

Aspire all you want. The reality is that unless some Arabian or Russian Oil baron takes a shine to the sporting wing, we'll never again be among Europe's elite.

FS, we've about a half dozen qualifying games to make the CL group stages ahead of us this summer. We don't fit into the UEFA masterplan, not financially powerful enough

Folk are in dreamland if they want this kind of quality on a permanent basis. Only way we're getting that is through more academy graduates like KT.

If you're willing to cut off your nose to spite your face and say no to all loan deals regardless of the talent it brings in then that's very foolish and only detrimental to our CL qualification chances.

got to agree a 18 month in January is technically 16 months or a start of season loan like Paddy I don't mind, obviously 7 figure loan fees for both and people will say there isn't any return well if Musonda or Roberts fire you into the CL groups with a winning goal or assist, you just got £30m plus!

Guys like Musonda aren't within our financial reach when they have 5 years left on their deals with parent clubs etc.

Roberts I think has 1 year left at City come the summer they might be easier to deal with then

I was reading his stats from his loan spell at Betis and they weren't great.

But since he's always been a target for Brendan I'm optimistic that he'll turn out to be a good signing.

We have to be realistic and accept that currently and for the foreseeable future we will not be dining at the top table of European football. We cannot compete with PSG, Real, Bayern or Man City. They are dealing in a different stratosphere. And I'm happy we are not at that table of over inflation and greed.
Is it good for the game? Of course not.
Is it gonna change? Not while all the ludicrous sports and TV contracts and corruption at footballs governing bodies exists. So for now we deal in realism and play the hands were dealt. We are not alone in this and we could be doing better but we should never aspire to be run on an unlimited supply of cash by Rich Arabs.
