Was bordering on world class during his first stint and I think he was always leaving despite an improved offer from Celtic.

Turned down Liverpool for Arsenal, if I remember right, which was probably the wrong decision.

I can't dislike the guy simply due to some of the brilliant performances he put in during his first stint. Also the fact he broke into the team as a youngster having came through the ranks and was a big Celtic fan in his younger days.

I was lucky enough to watch Charlie come through and play for Celtic, sheer class natural goalscorer wasted on arsenal, thankfully I’ve never had sky so never listened to apparent * he talked on there. That first goal in the documentary, what you don’t see is Charlie getting the ball from a throw in and beating 3 or 4 huns before putting it in the top corner, I can still picture the hun goalie flapping trying to stop it AND that international debut goal, flicking it up with one foot and lobbing the goalie with his other foot, class natural goal scorer

Former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas has claimed he is "not particularly welcomed" back at Parkhead.

The pundit revealed he wouldn't return to the club for a match and head through the main entrance after his criticism of the club.

Nicholas previously called out Celtic chiefs leading to a "touchy relationship" with the ex-Arsenal and Aberdeen forward unsure of his standing with supporters

The pundit has returned for matches as a punter when Ange Postecoglou was manager but hasn't returned since despite three of his brothers-in-law being season ticket holders.

"I went back to watch Celtic," Nicholas said speaking on William Hill's The Warm Up. "I have four brother-in-laws, three are season ticket holders at Celtic. And they started saying 'look, we have an occasional ticket if you want to sit in and watch the game with us'. It's right opposite where the teams come out (north stand).

And Big Ange came up to Celtic and I thought 'I like this', I went back and watched the team a couple of times, I was quite excited about it. I haven't really been back since Ange left, although I think they are playing some fabulous football, so I would be tempted.

"I don't attempt to go through the main door, because I am not particularly welcomed. I don't know (if he'd be mobbed upon a public return), it's still a touchy relationship between some Celtic fans and me, not from my side, whether it's I've criticised the club at the wrong time and they didn't like, it's only an opinion guys, it's not personal.

"Predominantly, the older guys, of my generation, enjoy the status that I created at Celtic, I enjoyed it as much as they enjoyed it. I am blessed to be part of the Celtic history."

Nicholas had two spells at Celtic, first between 1979 and 1983 and then again from 1990 to 1995

He's talked a lot of * but don't really get people having a problem with him. Loved watching him both times he played for us

No question as a kid I loved watching him in the hoops. What a player he was for us when he came into the team first and especially that last season before he left for Arsenal he was all but unplayable. He certainly has and does talk a lot of rubbish to be generous. Comes across IMHO as your stereotype "dumb athlete" type really rather then being malicious. Personally I just ignore what he says because more than likely it is irrelevant or just plain old nonsense.
