I've scrubbed the goals from my memory, can just remember Izzy had a nightmare with no Ledley being there to cover him and we got overrun in midfield because we had two out and out wingers.

Lenny never learned from that either, switching to that formation, look at Aberdeen in the cup last season.

Stop talking about Ledley please :54:

Aberdeen last season was another shambles.

Mulgrew is a good squad player, nothing more. He's been pretty average for the majority of his Celtic career and isn't (and shouldn't be) first pick for any position on the park.

Even his best asset, his set-pieces, which is what secured his place in the team in Europe under Lennon as we relied on them, even they have gone downhill recently. Jack of all trades, master of none. Good player to have in the squad but thats it.

Mulgrew and Brown are a great combo. Have been for Celtic and Scotland.

Any updates on Mulgrew's injury? I'm wondering about his future with the club. Bitton looks like the real deal; his ceiling seems like it's much higher than Mulgrew's. But I still think, with Denayer unlikely to come back and van Dijk with a foot out the door, Mulgrew is a good option at CB for next season. He doesn't have the pace of those two, but he played well in that position under Lennon. He's comfortable with the ball at his feet--especially for a defender--and with the way we're playing under Deila, that is important.

After Brown, it seems like Mulgrew is #2 in terms of being a leader on the team, so a place on the bench might be strange (maybe unsettling) for him when he returns. But I also don't want to see him displace Bitton.

Think he will be out unless there is a injury until next season when denayer and vvd leave.
Apart from the odd game as cover.

Biton showed class last night in Europe, something mulgrew has never done in Europe at centre midfield.

He should be a CB as that's where he played best for us (in the league and Europe)

Biton is a natural CM. Charlie Mulgrew is only a CM by name

Jack of all trade... I've heard it all now. Not that he won POTY or anything.

Mulgrew has just started running again after his injury so probably still about 3wks away.

But imo there's no way there is a starting berth in this team for him going forward. Biton has been class since getting his chance and alongside Broony have formed a solid midfield duo!

Think it's about time Mulgrew was forced back into a centre half. Always enraged me to see him in midfield or out wide left. It was as if Lenny would do anything to shoehorn him into the side! I'm glad he's not a regular he's too slow in the head and in the feet to be effective in the middle Of the pitch! At best he's a good backup centre half.

He'll be a back up player for rest of the season, depending on what happens with Virgil and Denayer he might be our starting CB next season which is fine because that's where he plays best.

Agree with this I'd like to see him drop back and play in his best position.

If I was going to play him I think it would be at left full, cant be as bad as Izaguirre is defensively there.

Him and Stokes shouldn't be included in our best 11 the now to be honest.

Why? He is a former player of the year who can fill in 4 different positions and is a Celtic man. Even if he is not a regular starter he still has value.

Him and Effe will be our CB players when VVD and Denayer leave.

They probably will come the qualifiers, if Lawwell is allowed to sell Virgil before our European fate is decided. This will happen unless they know that there will be mutiny if this happens again. Selling Forster at the time we did last year was one of the lowest points since Seville because it confirmed that the ambition of our board does not match the expectation of the supporters. If we allow this selling the family jewels policy to continue then we will become european no marks and it will be what we deserve
