He was amazing last night and has been for Celtic in the past. He is probably one of the most self-improved players I have ever seen and that is a big credit to him because he was an amazingly bad defender early in his career

Fair play to WGS too. He obviously isnt a daft petty grudge holder after his issues with Charlie early in his career.

Right, and he struggles more than most in that situation because he doesn't really have a burst of pace to get out of trouble. He can dribble very well (as he showed again last night) but can't get away after beating a player and, if there's no one to pass to, can end up crowded out.

Aye exactly, often he tries the spectacular pass to get out of the situation as well which, of course, results in him giving the ball away a fair bit. You saw what happened with Johansen when he was played in that role as well, he struggled.

I like Charlie mulgrew. Think he's actually pretty decent, seen it for Scotland that he can play in midfield.

He was outstanding against Ireland, but was caught out as I expected he'd be against England just as I do think he will in Europe too with technically more gifted players.

If it's rough and tumble then yeah he can hold his own.

Thought he did well at CH when he dropped back the other night.

I'm thinking back in defence if we lose our centre halfs.

The best performance I've saw from Mulgrew was against Barcelona at Celtic Park, especially after Broony got sent off.

He gave the ball away with a ridiculous pass against England, then had to clothesline a guy to stop him. Mulgrew has done that far too often this season for Celtic. I do like him, but he is limited in ability.

What does it take for this guy to get dropped... terrible in 90% of games nowadays.

Proves again he's out of his depth in Europe.

a disgrace how kayal is overlooked time and time again..

    * poor from mulgrew again tonight with those (i'll save for Europe) loose passes..

Sick of hearing about how well he does for Scotland, for Celtic he's been gash in the big European games by and large for too long now, * David healy was a world beater for northern Ireland and scored against everyone going but was still a dud.. Not quite the same but you get where i'm going, international performers shouldn't get free passes when discussing or using it for the club argument..

Time for kayal to get a shift in..

How and why is Mulgrew still getting played in Central midfield? I am missing something? He was clearly not fit or fast enough to play this position. Kayal should be playing with brown.

Exactly man I don't give a * about his Scotland performances. I judge him on what he performs like in a Celtic shirt and, this year, that has been abysmal. He is good enough for the league, we know that. In Europe though its a whole different kettle of fish. The Mulgrew defense force love to brag on about tactics, its always tactics this and tactics that and its the tactics that makes him play bad in midfield. Sorry but if you can't handle a little bit of basic pressing from the opposition and give the ball away constantly under any pressure you shouldn't be playing for Celtic, certainly not in the most important position of the park. In my eyes he adds NOTHING to the team.

Kayal should be there but he won't be. Its a mystery why he isn't getting a game, it really is. The only reason I can think of, as stupid as it may sound is that Deila feels the need to have more Scottish players in the team. Maybe its the same regarding McGregor's constant inclusion. I think Kayal will be gone in January.
