Chuck a few weeks ago some were blaming you for all the goals against Legia, and Scarlett was * useless.

Fast forward,we beat the mighty Ross and you are both world class, ffs.

    BTW Chuck,I always defend you:50:

ok in scotland but i worry about him playing in europe with better, quicker players sniffing around him

classic example is the skinning of the fullback late in the game no way he could do that against the majority of players we play in european competition

we watch us turning teams over and think we're world beaters but get brought back down to earth with a thud when its revealed our players arent all that

well big charlie is like that for me he's done a lot of work on his football and is good up to a point but increase the pace of the game like in europe and he's lost, just cant keep up physically or mentally, a bit like commons

His pace is always going to hold him back.

But he's learning the game every week. You can see him reading it better all the time. Plenty of players with little pace play that deep lying role in midfield. And he's much better in a 3 than a 2.

I'm certain he's only going to get better in there.

This! Exactly this! He has all the tools for that role and he's getting better at reading the game in that position (as opposed to CB or LB) all the time. If he had pace, he´d be world class and playing for a big club in a better league than the SPL, it's the only thing he lacks.

Aye you canny say stuff like that as you could say that about loads of players, if they had pace, if they were taller, if they were stronger.

Like if Gareth Bale had no pace he'd be average probably no better than Mulgrew but he does.

What he is is one of the best passers and crossers of a ball in the UK, decent with set peices in addition to that he is ok in various positions, decent on the ball and good in the air. He lack's mobility and you'd say he is average defensively. Compared to like Wanyama who you'd say is very good defensively, good mobility, very good in the air but average on the ball, would also say Wanyama was a more disciplined and determined player than Mulgrew in terms of his work-rate on and off the park and dedication to improving.

Mulgrew, likes Stokes, Commons and players like that id say were players who were capable of being a lot better than they are but they don't have it in them to have reached their bests. Compared to other players like the likes of Brown, Naismith and Kenny Miller players who arent naturally talented probably from similar backgrounds to them but who work harder on and off the park fitness and lifestyle wise to get the best out themselves.

That´s not really the point. The point is that people moan about his lack of pace (and I do too when he's at LB); but if he had pace, he wouldn't be here.

This isn't like the MON days, almost all our best players are going to have one flaw that is the reason they are here. Commons has a poor first touch, Mulgrew has horrendous pace, Izzy can get caught out of position, Ambrose has his *-ups, Stokes can be isolated, Johansen's passing goes when his legs get heavy, Gordon has still yet to prove he can last a full season etc, etc, etc.

The exceptions are probably only Lustig and Van Dijk, who are awesome or guys like Biton and Pukki who have no major flaws but no massive positives either (all the ones I named in the paragraph above this one are guys I regard as our best players). Even Van Dijk you could argue has an attitude problem at times.

His best game this years been against Germany, which was the best midfield he's faced. He was excellent in Europe the last 16 run, he was excellent against Barca at home, where he was up against there midfield on his own for a good 15/20 mins after Broony's red and he competed.

    People forget * I think.

He can pass superbly (short and long), great control, good feet, can dribble, can tackle, good positioning (defensively), reads the game, good in the air, versatile, team-player with a good attitude, can be cynical when needed and set pieces (both taking and getting on end of).

I don´t care that I'm getting pelters for this, it seems obvious to me: slow as *, he's at Celtic, give him Ambrose' pace, he's Gerard Pique.

Cheesered he's back for the next run of games, we've got 4 in about 10 days.

His versatility within the team allows a lot of flexibility in how we play, while keeping a lot of the same players on the pitch.

Praised the guy because we've missed him lately and tonight reminded me of why i wanted him out the side before..
Inexcusable tonight and suicide balls that were legia Warsaw all over again..

We can sit here all day and talk about how Ronny should be playing players but at the end of the day when you can't get the basics right and are a total liability, you don't deserve defending..

Always liked Charlie but he's so frustrating and becoming our very own European weak link..

Embarrassing tonight. he should have been taken off before he was. He was lucky not to cost us two.

Think Deila threw him under a bus tonight personally.
