He played left mid at Dundee United and was their fans player of the year as far as I remember. He does have the flicks and tricks of a left winger as well, maybe he's being eyed up to give us balance up the whole left side.

Signing players of the quality of Charlie Mulgrew isn't going to help us regain the title and it definitely isn't demonstrating the commitment that Sol Campbell is meant to be looking for.

I'd rather we went for someone like Safari from Basle who seems to have some decent clubs interested in him.

On the plus side, I can now use my weird pronounciation of the word "Charlie" more often (comes out Chaalee).

We should be building our team round Ki. The boys playing at a level most of the scottish league would struggle with (world cup) and has played well throughout in a team that play fitba.

Plus he hits all their set-pieces, getting a few assists.
We've seriously missed a decent set piece taker.

Sometimes guys take time to settle into a team. Stan Petrov was terrible his first season, but hopefully hes ready to go from the off.
Bringing in the Korean full back to keep him company is also a very good idea.

On another note, what is it with this website and everyones obsession with sources and locking threads ???
Its like school sometimes. Fair enough, some people go off at tangents and talk * and others just make stuff up, but in the majority of them so what.

If say Charlie mulgrew isnt paraded by 10am tomorrow, what skin is it off whatever jobsworths nose if it aint closed/locked ???

Or is asking these dreadful questions gonna get me locked ???

I can only hope that Mulgrew either scores as many free kicks or gets assists from them as he will let people go past him as if he is'nt there.

    He'll need to score/assist 40+...

comparing Ki to Stan Petrov? you're havin a laugh m8 :56:. The World Cup is a different type of fitba than is played in Scotland. He's not strong enough to hold up here. Quite frankly, he got pushed around quite a bit in the World Cup.

I think that is Braafheid you are referring too.

Mulgrew has improved greatly in the defensive side of things, and I am sure
that Lenny, Mjalby and Thommo will tutor him more in the finer aspects
    of defending.

I will admit i haven't seen much off Mulgrew at all apart from when hes been playing against us, but lookin at some youtube videos he can put in some good balls and score cracking free kicks with that left foot! going by some of the people on here doesn't sound too good at defending though, hopefully lenny & the rest can bring him up to scratch.

A bit of a juxtaposition in terms - Charlie Mulgrew and Bring Back the Thunder -- seems there will be a slight breeze wafting through Parkhead rather than any THUNDER next season with these type of signings. :38:

I will second that we have not had a decent left back for a while so hopefully he will be a decent back up for a good left back

not many people on the forum have imo, they just judge him on his games against celtic and 3min match highlights against the others, cause i dont and i certainly beleive not many others went out of there way last season to watch aberdeen too often,if at all,so lets all give him a chance first eh?

HE SHOULD NEVER WEAR THE HOOPS AGAIN.

First and foremost he is a defender. The only positive note from reading posts, is that he can take a Free Kick. Since we have had problems at LB for years, shouldn't we be getting someone that can actually defend.

He has already been at the club, and we got rid of him. Why do we need to bring him back, or do we need more 'home-grown players' to help us with our european squad? I think its 5 players trained by us between the ages of 16-21, which count as home grown. We would now have, Mulgrew, McGeady, Maloney, O'Dea, Caddis.

Don't think he has the temperament for an Old Firm game. He went head to head with laughaminute at Ibrox, and the big * conned the ref, can you imagine what would happen in a derby game?? We would be down to 10 men. He would break thommos record of 3 red cards in old firm games
