He is shocking. So many times he lets players slip past him with a ball slipped inside him. He is so far from having a clue as a defender its unreal. Anyone who cant see that really must be the Stevie Wonder of the terraces. He has a lovely left peg and is tall but that doe snot make of for him being an awful defender.

Am not saying having a good dead ball player isnt a good thing because we have been missing one of late but the first priority of a defender should be to defend. I havent seen enough of him to say hes not a good defender but im not completely convinced on him yet. Hopefully he does solve th LB problem and makes it his own though:celt_2:
    Welcome back Charlie.

Thought he was average at Aberdeen. Hope he proves me wrong tho. Good luck to him. Hopefully he can ping one of those free kicks in against the huns.

    Orders received and obeyed.

Anyway, I'll be the first to confess that since Mulgrew left us I've only ever seen him play when we're playing Aberdeen, and if Willo Flood taught us anything it's that a player can't be judged on how well they perform against Celtic four times a year.

That said, he wasn't better than Lee Naylor 5 years ago and I don't see anything that says to me he's much better than Lee Naylor now.

Would have rathered Wallace. Mulgrew ain't great defensively. But hey ho, its a position were we need competition.

Lennon must have liked the looked of him when he was here. I believe it was a pre season fall out with WGS that caused him to leave - some sort of half time argument.

    Whoopty-*-doo, we've got Charlie Mulgrew.

Not impressed with this really. If he's back up then fine, I suppose we are lacking in that area and he was free but if he is first choice then expect a lot of goals to be coming in from his side. The boy can't defend and the fact he can hit a freekick dont change that.

Get Wallace in as well. Two LBs and we can shut up about no' having any LBs.

but isnt even in the reckoning for our pretty weak national team. i even recall Aberdeen were not too sure about him.

If Mulgrew is our first choice left-back this season then I'm not happy and we are setting ourselves up for defensive problems again. Mulgrew should be a squad player/backup and nothing more.

Lee Wallace is the man who should be wearing Celtic's number 3 shirt next season.

He plays 5 a sides with him at Lennoxtown every week.

Himself and Wallace took the blame for a pre-season defeat after both went on then got whipped off and went and got ready.

He scored a hat trick of free kicks in our reserves, I reckon he might become a bit of a cult figure at Parkhead. He is a nutter.

He puts me in mind of O'Dea a bit in the way he looks quite classy on the ball but just is not at all a natural defender. Its strange such a big guy with a fair bit of skill doesnt have the concentration for defending.
