Unless we play him at LM in the Thommo role. I'd like to still see another LB even if Mulgrew signs

well a was reading a few coments on him last week and people sayed he wasnt a very smart defender a would think that he would push up on the wing and if celtic play good attacking football this season then we might get a few goals from him plus he is a great freekick taker and we never realy had a good 1 last season so all i can see is ups from here tbh

Yes,if we sign him his strength is his crossing ability. We may as well use him there instead of worrying about him defending all the time.

If we are signing Mulgrew to be a squad player/back-up then I'm quite happy with that. If we are signing him to be our first choice left-back next season then I think it is a * move. The guy is weak defensively and we should be going after Lee Wallace who is a much better player.

Totally agree! why we are not in for Lee Wallace I don't know. He is exactly what we need at LB!

cmon there must be better left backs out there, ie atouba, tiwio of nigeria , kadlec , drenthe who isn't getting a game at real madrid , sylvinho out of contract . You have to admit mulgrew isn't the best bring back mo camara

I think he would be a good signing. I would not even be bothered if he was our first choice LB. Give the lad a chance. He has never had a chance at Celtic and if he comes back I for one will be right behind him

i'm convinced he was dropped at points last season. even if thats not correct are you really happy with mulgrew if he turns out first choice at left back? the guy has a decent left foot but he can't defend.

I still have this feeling we will be playing a 3-5-2 or some kind of variation of it and I think Mulgrew would be great as a left wing back. He can send in some perfect crosses, and of course there is his free kick ability.

just checked and apparantly he played in 36 of 38 league games so looks like i was wrong about him not holding down a place up there. hopefully i'm also wrong about his ability.

Lenny is trying to put a team on the park that will fight for every ball in every game and never up

Mulgrew is average at BEST, def not a 1st choice left-back or wing-back IMO.

Here's hoping it's not a sign of things too come...really don't rate the guy and i've seen plenty of him :54:

After ten years of below average left backs, I will happily settle for an average left back after such a long time. As another poster has already said
Lenny is looking to put fighters out all over the park. And Charlie Mulgrew is a fighter, and at 6'3' he will add some much needed height and stature to our back line, and he also dispatches a ferocious free kick.
