the rumour of why Mulgrew was punted was due to a fall out in one of the US trips in which Mulgrew did something wrong i think. Rumours has it Thompson paid Mulgrew's fine and WGS was angry at both of them as a result. I don't know how true it is - its probably utter mince tbh

Hearts want £3M for Lee Wallace. Would you pay that in this current financial climate, and given that we have missed out on CL monies two years in a row with falling attendances, like everyone else. Charlie Mulgrew on a Bosman would be a great piece of business. He is a Celtic man through and through, would give us some height and presence in the back line, and he just has to be better than Braafheid.

Mulgrew might be * but Wallace is worse. He's an improvement to what we have anyway.

3m for Wallace? * right off!!

Koncheski knocked back a contract offer and said he wants to leave, they will let him go for 2m apparently. I would take him in a minute.

Good solid no nonsence left back who belts up and down the park all game, that's the type of player we should be going for!!

I think we should be looking forward instead of bringing Mulgrew back and i don't rate Zander Diamond either. Becase we can't sign the Lional Messi's of this world - doesn't mean we have to bring in the aberdeen back four and other former players we let go. We can do better!

Mulgrew is fine as back up but if he is coming here as first choice left back then i am very worried for the season ahead .
Would much rather still had Danny Fox here ,

I wouldn't mind having Mulgrew as a starter, especially since it would give us so much more money to spend in other areas.

Seeing the Thomson quotes really offer a diferent dimension to this, well apart from Hammer.:icon_mrgreen:

I'm maybe now thinking that we could be considering going to a 3-5-2, Mulgrew & Hinkel or even Caddis would probably make good wingbacks in this system.

TBF I don't think Mulgrew is the answer in a 4-4-2, we shipped a lot of goals last season & really need to tighten up in defence - Mulgrew isn't all that tight defensively.

Ater thinking about the whole situation (no natural LB at the club, expensive wages/signing fees) I think this makes sense, but LB has been a nightmare position for us for * years & if Lenny is not aware of this I'll eat my shoes...surely he doesn't see Mulgrew as the answer to out problem LB position (no offense). Great back up though & he can play in a variety of positions as can Caddis.

i think he could do a job and for free then why not, most games i seen him play he was lethal at set pieces and caused all sort of problems for defence's

well tbh i believe wallace is good enough and whether i think its a fair price or not if thats the price we are asked to pay we do or not theres ben a few lbs mentioned here and there and its only my opinion but i dont see mulgrew as the answer im sure they can find even a free transfer and give im a decent wage i see that attraction financially with mulgrew just dont think hes up to it

i don't think their is a lot between wallace and mulgrew . wallace is slightly better defensively and mulgrew is better going forword. i for one would be happy if we signed mulgrew its a win win situation. he is free, well within our wage bracket and he is very good from set plays. Hopefully we sign a good experienced centre half like sol campbell who could improve mulgrews positional sense which is his only problem as far as i can see. but even if we do sign him id still like us to sign another left back we need competition and cover which is something we haven't had at left back for a long time .

i agree and i remember i wasnt impressed with wallaces defending against czech rep,but i suppose he has impressed me against us a couple of times and so has mulgrew, mainly for his set peices though,i dont know whether he could defend well in europe though(which i think we may need) but he may prove me and alot of others wrong

That right there is enough for me..espcially since hes free. Let's say we are down to a team 2-0 we could bring Mulgrew in off the bench to be a danger at set pieces as well as going forward and whipping in crosses. I think we made 2 maybe 3 direct free kicks last year as a team..terrible.
