I think given a run at CDM we could see more performances like the Motherwell and Hearts thumpings.

Not workrate lazy but when he's on the ball he seems to take an extra needless touch to do something simple or get caught out for taking too much time.

I can give you some actually reasonable down sides, and I like Charlie.

    1) He lacks all sorts of pace (you already said this I know, but its important). While not a Majstorovic type of slow, Charlie has very very middling levels of flat out pace as well as that short burst that some players can use to make up from lacking breakaway speed. Some players can position themselves so that it doesn't matter even in the CL, but I don't think Charlie's positioning in the middle of the park is quite at that level.

    2) In the Champions league he occasionally misses a poorly decided tackle instead of standing his man up and waiting for help. He's a pretty good CDM, even at CL level, but I think he'd do less well at CB and would be poor at LB. We used him well at LM in CL because we didn't expect him to be bombing up the wings but to be covering izzy.

    3) His corners are still class, but his free kicks and shooting from open play have both been less than what they were. Not a huge concern given his current role.

I guess we all took it for granted when we had naka taking the free kicks ,you expected them to go in , now no one can score atleast 5 set pieces a season .

I really like Charlie, think he's a great versatile player.

But I think he's getting a bit too much praise right now on here, especially those saying he's consistent.

Did none of you watch the Thistle game? I was sitting near the dug outs (great seats by the way) and Lennon was giving him pelters for lots of the game, thought he was going to take him off really early.

I also personally thought he was shocking at times in that game, needlessly giving the ball away. That said he also had some great passes, but my point is that over the last few games I certainly wouldn't call him consistent unless you mean consistently inconsistent.

That's harsh as *, half fit just back from injury, had a good goal ruled out and thats the game you choose to judge him on?

This is exactly my point! He's just back from injury, half fit as you said, so how can he be consistent?

I'm not judging him, I didn't expect anything less from him having played such little game time.

My point is that he can't be called consistent because... he hasn't been.

He can be consistent because that was half fit for one game, he's been consistent for about 3 years.

Does that mean if Lustig comes back and has a poor first game, he can no longer be classed as a consistent player, as he is just back from injury?

It's a bit bizarre to be honest, because the one thing Mulgrew is IS consistent! Consistency best judged over an extended period, as an aside.

    He most certainly is.

I'm genuinely baffled by some of these comments tbh.

Mulgrew is prob Lennon best signing we got him as a back up leftback and he has won player of the season at center back and now looks a seasoned defensive mid

Constantly being misunderstood on here but it's my own fault.

By Charlie's consistency I'm talking about the last few games he's played, not his entire Celtic career, that's why I used Thistle as an example.

He's been inconsistent RECENTLY. < This is the word I missed out earlier.

My posts make sense once you realise this

I can see Charlie being captain in the future, he is properly Celtic to the core, love the man!

Since he came back from his injury, I thought that's what we were all talking about.
