Great game at the San Siro - but how Milan finished with 11 men on the pitch I'll never know.

Aquilani should definitely have been off, when Nesta got that yellow by mistaken identity. But then he should have been off again second half.

Zambrotta also incredibly lucky - could have had three yellows, never mind one.

Wonder what Clichy and Nasri are thinking now, neither really starting every game and we're in the next round for sure in the CL.

How are the groups easy? Its called the Champions League for a reason.

    Arsenal have Dortmund, Marseille

Man Utd have Benfica, Basle(tricky game)

    Chelsea have Leverkusen and Valencia.

All good sides. Leverkusen just showed that.

    I don't think it's any coincidence either.

I feel the EPL teams have been trying to introduce more English players, to gear up for possible UEFA restrictions on home players within the next few seasons. And it has hit their standards badly.

No coincidence either that Arsenal - the one team who have done well - had only ONE English player in their 18-man squad.

I think Nasri's probably regretting it more and more with every passing game.

He was on the road to being a superstar, but now he's just a supersub - and when you're 24 that really retards your development, if you have aspirations to be a top player.

Clichy is maybe more interested in the money - but it's certainly going to * up his prospects of playing in the national team - which has to hurt.

Aye i'm sure, but I know I'd rather be getting games and playing week in week out for most of the 90 mins than earning that ridiculous money but not playing as much, although that's just me and I know it's different for players

its great to see apeol on top of their group, they usually play good attractive football, today they were hemmed in by zenit but they deserve to be where they are

Could you elaborate on that last sentence, you think arsenal are better than the other 3 english teams because they have less englishmen ?

chelsea should be beating leverkusen and valencia

Erm, how about you have a look at the thread title. :56:
This thread's about the Champions League, where Arsenal have already qualified with a game to spare, where Chelsea, Man U, and even the mighty Man City are struggling.

I think the other teams are suffering from trying to bring in players partly on the basis that they're English, rather than on the basis that they're good.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Arsenal are the only team to have secured a place in the CL knockout stage, since their players are better equipped for that type of game.

And they're certainly the only English-based team who've been able to go toe-to-toe with Barca playing football - even though they lost out in the end.

Barca or real will win it, as for the people saying chelsea should be beating valencia really? They are sitting 3rd in best league in the world they are very strong this year. Chelsea arent even in the top 4 in the premier league i can see valencia winning at stamford bridge.
