Your team plays every home game on it, we played one game.

rgorvin, ok, it's always a pleasure to be the first ones;)

ChampionsElect, I know the score is 1-1 and all the stuff, but I mean watch the match one more time - your team was really locked up on their side of the field while SM was pressing and attacking most of time. I'm sure that we will score and I hope it'll be 2 goals and a ticket to the group stage.
BTW we expected Celtic to play much better.

wee paul, that was really a very slight advantage. BTW, though we play every home game at this pitch we still play better on the grass, so await even stronger team to come to CP;)

I don't know why they claim they have a better away record. Last season away from home they lost to Bayern, Inter and Celta Vigo, ok the beat Lisbon but one win doesn't make you a great away side.

While at home the drew 3 games against, Lisbon, Bayern and Celta Vigo and lost to Inter. They can say what they want but they're not amazing travelers

Mind you the Barcelona team that beat us at CP went on to win the Champions League that season....so losing to the best team in Europe is no reasonable

Why haven't we banned of those whinging Russians yet...all they do it complain and cry. First of I say again, their goal WAS offside, just Russian propaanda on TV showing otherwise. But what ppl don't realise is they don't stop it just before ball is kicked (which would show Palyvchenko slightly offside) but they stop a few seconds before (which show Palyvchenko) befroe he stepped offside.

Hey Sanders mate!, we have to ignore these Russians clearly they have not played much European football to understand that the HOME team (who has played on that crappy plastic for many times) are at an advantage. Also they fail to realise that Celtic won a "tactical" battle. We played defensive but who wouldn't have. We played on foreign soil (ahem i mean foreign plastic) and on top of that we played a team that we relatively do not know much about. Qualifying is a two-legged match. In the away leg, the main objective is damage limitation. Keep the tie alive for the HOME leg.

Not lets go shut them up once and for all at Parkhead.....also lets show them what REAL atmosphere is. Not like that little silly noise that they claim was heard in the Luzhkin. 80,000 people and hardly any sound. Suprising really!! Especially after we were told so much about the electric atmosphere by our Russians friends. Also we have a proper football stadium and we don't have running tracks so our crowd gives more atmosphere and tension to game.

I knew our record in Europe was fantastic in recent years. But wow when you see it in black and white that is very impressive especially when you look at how many of those games are games top level sides. Hopefully we can continue that form this season.

They were all accidental 'ball to hand not hand to ball'. I can say with hand on heart that none of these handballs would have resulted in a penalty in British football. I have seen the disallowed goal several times and he was a little offside although less than 1 metre. You were the better team and we defended in depth but that was tactical. Celtic are a very attacking team normally.

By that reckoning Spartak have little chance except a score draw. We need to play very carefully though. We dont need to be as defensive as the first leg but we cant go cavalry charging cause Spartak can break very fast. If they score first then we would be under huge pressure to score but not concede again. We need to score first.

We mentioned the same thing over and over now...Keltoi's explaination is is probably the 100th time we explained the FIFA football rules on handball. Dunno why they aren't understanding...is it because of their ignorance? poor english? i dunno. Basically stop crying about you false handball claims and that make believe (by Russian media) offside goal. You were lucky enough to have finished the game with 11 players on the pitch with your constant diving. A better ref and those divers would have seen yellow and possibly even red (for Bystrov and Welliton)

For Scotts talking about handball: yes, in Russian championship they book and give penalties for these things. I'm not kidding. So please forgive us our crying bhoys)

But in Britain if the ball hits you (and you have no time to avoid it hitting you) then it is considered an accident and is almost never given as a foul. I dont think Spartak need to talk about this so much. Spartak were a skillful team and good to watch. We got a draw by defensive tactics. We accept that we were pretty lucky but the hand ball thing is wrong.

Handball is only an offense if there was deliverate intent...if you deliberately use your arms to control the ball or to gain an advantge then its a foul. But if for example some kicks the ball into your hands and you had no time or no choice to get your hands out of the way then its no foul. So if sometime kicks the ball hard towards your face and you use your hands to protect your face, then again no foul. You gain no advantage from that.

so stop being a damm Smartass Ptyhblu. If you are being honest that even in Russia, if there is no intent, handball is given, then sorry about these few words I am saying. But if thats the case, then your country's football is pretty f**cked up.

Also I point out also that these handball rules are applied worldwide not just Scotland or UK. Thats why the German ref did not gave a penalty. You cannot kick the ball into the opposition player's hands and claim a penalty.

Yeh it's the rules, if the ball is deemed to strike your hand accidentally and/or does not prevent a clear goal scoring opportunity then the ref should not award hand ball.

ede, you seem to be a little hysterical about this case, just take it easy like Keltoi. I know our Championship is quite f--ked up and that's exactly what I was talking about in my previous post. I know the rules and stopped crying right after I rewatched all the doubtful moments at home (I was watching the match in the stadium and from such a distance you can't see whether it was hand-to-ball or ball-to-hand).
btw, what was the reason to call me a smartass?)
