These so-called "connections" can't mean much if our own fans aren't even sure about them, can they?

maybe "connection" was the wrong word to use.i just thought that more celtic fans prefer everton therefore a friendship with liverpool seemed odd.

Llanfair United, despite playing in dark blue & white, have around 20% of their support wearing Celtic colours.

Definately a Celtic friend. THere were even a few in the local pub Wednesday, raving when we scored.

    Llanfair Ultra's.

We seem to have struck up a friendship with Norwich with our two friendlies this year. I've had a small personal affinity with Vfb Stuttgart since they played Rankers in the CL in 2009. A bunch of their fans came up to me in the city centre (had a Celtic top on haha) and asked for a picture, they were all praising Celtic in broken English and they all had Celtic bags etc.

We haven't got a friendship with anyone. Honestly it annoys me when people associate Celtic with Barcelona or Dortmund (etc). If they weren't top teams we wouldn't be shouting about 'Special relationships' Liverpool and St Pauli being examples of this. I guarantee Barcelona or Dortmund fans won't see Celtic as friends. If we did have a friendship with Barcelona I don't think they would have started their under 9's against Benfica.

Crazy talk. More people talk about a link with Pauli (a second division German side) than Barca.

There was a lot more talk about a friendship with St Pauli when they were in the top flight.

Agree with you on Liverpool. Personally I can't stand them. Just another arrogant English club for me. I have a big respect for Dortmund though. You really have to appreciate what they have been able to accomplish over the last couple of seasons as well with 2 titles and even humping Bayern to win the double last season. Play some very attractive football too.

Wrong, Celtic fans and Sankt fans have been in a relationship for many years, met loads of Sankt supporters over in Glasgow.

Got an interview here from a Dortmund fan taken from an un-offical celtic fanzine.

Martin is a lifelong Dortmund fan, after celtic in 1987 and then 1992, martin then took celtic to his heart and Is now very much a massive hoops fan

Martin, you have always been a big borissia dortmund fan,so how did you start following celtic

When Dortmund travelled to Glasgow in September 1987, it was the first European game for many people. 1,000 BVB supporters were surprised by the fantastic, friendly atmosphere inside Celtic Park and Glasgow. I felt both sets of supporters liked each other from the beginning. Replica jerseys, scarves were being exchanged and it was much the same two weeks later for the return leg. For me personally it was the first European game where I had a genuine love for both teams, I was really impressed by the noise the old jungle made.

Even during the game Celtic supported Murdo Mcleod, the ex-Celtic player who joined Dortmund in the summer of 1987. Dortmund were the first West German team which met Celtic in European competition and the BVB fans were the first who had struck up a friendship with the celtic fans. In the years between this and the next meeting I had a closer look at Celtics history and what they had done. I started to take a huge interest in the club history more and more. When dortmund were paired with Celtic again in 1992, you can imagine I was so excited, the two games were pure party events for both sides of supporters. I remember Celtic and Dortmund fans singing ' always look on the bright side of life ' and that continued when Celtic and Dortmund fans celebrated in the pubs together. I have made so many trips to Scotland or parts of Europe since to follow celtic. For the game against Jeunnesse Esch in 2000. There were supporters from all over, as usual, but Fifty came from Dortmund. That was my first European away game with celtic.

I am a lifelong Celtic fan (since in my fathers testicles).

But have recently found myself supporting Llanfair United.

Google it, top of the Spar Welsh League Div 2, beat Talbart 5-0 today.

Yet I can't get a sticky for us on this site.

20% of the support wear Celtic colours. Are mad for Celtic, yet cant get a thread on here.

It's wrong, just wrong. We have a team supporting us, yet fail to confirm them.

How can we hope to build up an international support like this?

    I live in hope...

Like it or not, there is a very strong political connection between the two clubs due to Ireland, Scotland and Catalunya and the role Celtic and Barcelona have played in their respective communities. No one's hanging on or expecting any favours from other clubs (well some are but I can't see why they would). Seems some people think this is the case and want to dismiss any connection between the two clubs. I always enjoy welcoming the Catalans when we play them at Celtic Park, purely for the fact that they like to have a good laugh, don't wreck our * city and behave like animals (Spartak Moscow last week), nothing today with Celtic and Barça being 'best buddies'. Likewise, when we travel to Barcelona. Both of our clubs presidents have stated many times that both Barcelona and Celtic are more than clubs - I'd struggle to think of another two clubs who can lay claim to that. Both clubs share a similar ethos and both have been hindered by the establishment clubs being favoured by referees and the footballing authorities. Both clubs have been a haven for people who have been made feel unwelcome in their own country. I don't know why you're so insecure about all this... just as ridiculous as those who expected Barcelona to field a full strength team against Benfica to do us some sort of favour.
