Kvitsgaarden away to norwich for 6.9 million release clause …. Probably never in for him then is that’s the case cause if we rated him and wanted him we would have paid that

Meanwhile Hoops youngster Jude Bonner is set to sign for Ayr United on a season long loan deal.

The highly-rated 19-year-old was handed a debut last season but will be sent out to get game time under Somerset Park boss Scott Brown.

Brendan Rodgers is ready to roll out his big guns this weekend – as the Celtic boss admitted he’s stepping up his search for more firepower.

The Hoops are chasing several targets with Royan Antwerp’s £5million-rated Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Rapid Vienna’s Isaac Jansson high up on his wishlist.

Rodgers would love to have new faces on board as his side head for warm-weather training in Portugal.

Celts saw off Cork City 2-1 in Ireland with two different XIs in either half.

But the Hoops international crew including Kieran Tierney and new boy Benjamin Nygren were still on ice – but will be unleashed against Estrella in Lisbon this weekend.

The recruitment drive won’t stop in the meantime and Rodgers said: “There is lot of work going on in the background and things that are what we're hoping to achieve over the coming weeks.

“We definitely need that there, especially at the top end of the pitch. But no, a lot of work going on but I can't confirm that there's anything there at this moment.

Jansson another one to tick off the list, then.

Hopefully have a couple not already linked lined up. I hoped we'd have had some more in before Portugal.

Celtic really know how to extinguish good will with their transfer dealings

    Yep.

This argument that it’s still early in the window…who cares? Why do we constantly drag our heels every * year when it comes to signing players?

As always, we’ve known for months the areas of the squad we need to strengthen. So far we’ve signed KT (brilliant but that was sorted 6 months ago) to go into the team. Nygren looks good, and hopefully first team ready straight off the bat. Then a 3rd choice keeper and 3rd choice striker.

    A total of £1.7m spent.

Go out and sign some quality, first team ready players. It really cannot be as difficult as we make it look.

Also, I’ve read this elsewhere and it’s a brilliant point.

People always go on about how important it is for new signings to have a good/full pre-season with us, yet go on about having to be patient and “what’s the rush” to get players in.

The vast majority of our signings should be done by mid July. With maybe one or two market opportunities if they present themselves nearer the end of the window.

Hopefully we start seeing some new winger links shortly, went a bit quiet on that front outside the Swedish boy, and that one is done too.

Did we panic sign Trusty or was he in early last season ? I can't remember, but he does come across as one. Doubt we would get anywhere near what we paid for him. Probably half I would guess.

Engels I think although he hasn't hit the heights we expect, was obviously very highly rated so can see why we spent big on him.

Idah showed glimpes in his loan spell but we were bumped rotten for him price wise. Still does a job and even if we made a loss, he still contributed enough to justify that loss.

Do you trust BR to spend big after the 3 of them ? We either need to or he'll walk at some point in the near future. That's the choice really.

Edit - Meant to post this in the Rodgers thread.

Took this post from KDS but I couldn't agree more.

Genuine question. Do we see ourselves as a champions league club? Do we aspire to be a champions league club? If so, we need to start acting like one and signing a higher level of talent.

The backbone of our first team should be absolutely solid, not cobbled together with a few data driven punts from across Europe and Asia. Nor should we be in the position of grinding our very best players down to dust because our squad is so poor we can rely on others to give them a break (Tierney, McGregor, CCV, Maeda for example).

Look at the names we've been linked with this summer and the clubs and level they're playing at. Tell me it isn't very reminiscent of Rodgers first summer back when we signed Lagerbielke, Yang, Nawrocki, Tillio etc.

Nygren kinda came out of nowhere and moved quite fast so I'm hoping for similar.

Even with the Huns signings, many of them have came out of nowhere and the rags haven't really a clue. It often happens.

What I'm hoping anyway. Plenty of time left but I'd expect at least 3 other first team signings by the end of the month.

You hear it all the time. Its one of the reasons given for Kuhns good form. He had a good preseason with us.

But then aye you get the eejits saying plenty of time and wonder why a player doesn't hit the ground running.

So you'd be happy with Yamada, Ambrosino and De Haas is what I'm hearing :fear:

For the gazillionth time the club will not back this manager, they will do enough in their opinion to get by. Outwith KT and Nygren the players signed and linked point to this. Their is nothing to contradict this in terms of links.

We will stay sub £3m to £4m on 6- 8 punts this summer.

They got spooked by the spending last summer and are totally spooked that within a few seasons UCL qualification will be almost impossible.

Everyone just needs to chill and accept it. Coming from one of the most over reactive people on here its cheap coming from me but look back months on here I have been steadfast in my opinion of the summer business and it is panning out how I expected.

I actually think Yamada will offer us something and Ambrosino is worth it on a loan to buy...

De haas I would take to replace Scales.

Really hoping for 3 or 4 standouts though. Surely.

This may be true and if it is then BR will leave when his stock is highest.

If we start to show any signs of struggle oe even just not the levels of last season and there's another job around he won't hang about.

Mate you cannot recommend anyone to be chill:giggle1:

You still can't post stuff like this and claim its the truth when the window is open for the best part of 2 months still.

Thats why I said in have a cheek. But in 2 months time it will be all confirmed and as I said the links to players does nothing to suggest otherwise
