If we were to lose against the huns and not make progress in CL qualification, this place and the attitude towards the board will be toxic.

Its all avoidable as well. If we were run as well as football club as we are business, there'd be no issue. Yet here we are in to essentially a mini window, zero plans progressing.

Where's Nicholson? He has a lot to answer for here.

Nicholson shouldn't be leading the negotiations either. Nor should Desmond or Lawwell be getting involved in as many aspects of dealings, as I'm sure they do.

We run that side of things in a 1980s fashion.

A lawyer and the footballing worlds version of Tam from Still Game leading your transfer negotiations and we wonder why the * things take so long?

Until that changes, every window will be the same. Dom Mackay tried to change it and was shown the door.

Regardless of whether these are good or bad deals in reality (I can't really comment on that, as I don't know anything about either of the players involved), the board must see that the optics of incrementally increasing extremely low bids (genuinley peanuts in the modern market) for a player while your biggest rivals swoop in and just buy another, much more expensive player without any fuss from the same club are terrible.

It's embarrassing for us as fans and I honestly don't think the board could find a better way to alienate the support if they tried.

Im sick of the * but at the same time you got to say then sure can spot a player the dickheads. Nygren, Inamura and Yamada all look very good. We just need the quality up top and we need it fast.

I have been spitting out hatred in the last few days so im not defending the * btw. If we miss out on CL football this season i will never forgive them for that.

So much of it doesn't make sense as well.
Like if Rodgers is a Desmond appointment, then why is Desmond constantly letting his man be treated this way? This isn't fans misreading it, as you say, it's constant windows begging and clearly talking about needing more signings, quicker, more quality, now.

Then what the * is Desmond doing?
PL and the board may not give a * because it's a Desmond appointment and they don't want to "help" but then why is Desmond letting this go on?
Surely Desmond would want him to sign in for another season, so tell the * to fund and back the manager

Official statement from Celtic today on our transfer business

When something doesn’t make sense, assume you do not have all the details. Read practically anywhere online and you will learn it does not make sense for Celtic to sit on a pile of cash, with a team which requires strengthening. We can agree on that; it doesn’t make sense.

Often, the first deal that’s done for a player is with the agent. He will confirm his player only has eyes for your club and that contract requirement. If another club enters the race, the agent will let you know you have been outbid. After this is in place, you make an offer to the club. There is a world of difference between signing a £3m player for £3m, or signing him for £9m. Buyers and sellers have different incentives and there are more wasteful buyers and wise ones.

It would also be a mistake to assume clubs have hard preferences between candidates. They seldom do, so they pursue the options available to them, which helps inform the final decision. I know of situations at Celtic recently when the manager has sat on a decision until the last moment before making a decision – as he is entitled.

We hopefully agree that none of us possess perfect knowledge. There are things we do not know and that is absolutely true every transfer window. Why anyone works themselves up into a frenzy by assuming otherwise is interesting.

I know there’s still time in the window and we could still come out of this strong and some of the players we have signed do look good at the very early stage etc.

But I think what the club constantly overlooks is morale. It would be worth it, for a million or two extra it would cost, to bring just one more player in earlier, give him a full pre-season and get the whole mood of the place lifted.

Can you imagine what one more exciting signing would’ve done this summer? It would’ve at least helped quash everyone’s fears about the Rodgers-Board mismatch.

Everyone’s just so jaded because we’ve seen this story before. You’d think you’d have an end-of-season meeting after the cup final and say, “Right let’s make a statement early on in the window and lift the club a bit after a poor finish to the season and really back Brendan early in his last year here”.

Instead it’s, “Let’s see if we can save a million or two pushing our signings until the end of the window.”

Getting depressing. End of the day, we have lost kyogo and khun. 2 key players. And haven’t replaced him despite having plenty of time to identify and recruit. We started well with KT and Nygren, Osmand, inamura and shin all look like they have potential, but we sorely need quality for now. Genuinely 2 quality additions changes the whole perspective, but to be looking at kicking off the league with Yang and Forrest as our options on the right is negligent.

Even if the Berum deal is still in the works we need about 6 others why is everything so slow and laboured and it seems we're only able to work on 1 deal at a time
