Obviously won’t pay the price for him

Or he’s way down the list and Micky Bash is our top target

I’ll give them another week and hope we see the kind of deals that come out of nowhere.

If no wingers in with a game or two to settle before the CL playoff (at a minimum) then that’s an astonishing level of arrogance and incompetence.

The noise is staring to amplify. Despite who it's from.

Managing to start a season next week with Yang/Forrest as our first choice winger when we’ve had all Summer to replace Kuhn is some going btw … and we’ve had since January to replace Kyogo seeing as Idah is miles off it.

Surely taking a calculated risk to strengthen the team for the CL qualifiers in good time would be more financially responsible than the old “wait and see” pish we’re accustomed to now.

How many times has failure to strengthen for the CL qualifiers resulted in failure to Qualify. Have the board learned anything at all.

This is murder, wonder if we are actually talking to anyone or have put our bids in and are holding the line determined not to increase them, hoping they'll blink first.

I understand a certain amount of panic, but TBH, I still think we'll probably be alright this year.

At some point, the 1990s way we operate is going to blow up in our faces even domestically; but I'm more and more of the opinion that we won't modernise our operation until that happens. Although I'm not certain, I think having Rodgers as our manager should be enough to see us OK this year- both because he's levels above any other manager in Scotland and because he has some influence with DD.

Still, I'm not certain and I hope the quality of signings is made that will put all our minds at rest.

Frustrating now we have played all pre season friendlys but we have still to make our squad stronger than last season.
Common sense to get the players in get them involved in pre season games.
Rodgers after match speech play isn't encouraging.

Im on record as being against Rodgers' return.

Most of my misgivings were/ are based on his extremely poor last season with us. I wasn't as venomous as others about the manner of his departure, but did think it was pretty disgraceful to dump us halfway through a season on a run to 10 in a row. Im not too * happy about the performances post xmas last season either.

Anyway, i digress, the counterargument that was made at the time by a * load of posters in favour of reappointment, was that Rodgers was * over by the board in his last season. They short changed him. Took transfer control off him. Gave him cheap options and lumped him with players he didnt want.
This time. THIS time, the board wouldn't * around. They'd back him to the hilt. Knowing they made an * of it last time. Knowing an "elite" manager such as Brendan needs backing.

I countered that he'd pished away too much money and the board didn't trust him last time around, and that I wasn't too enamored with the idea of him getting even more cash to pish away, especially with us being cash rich.

His "big" signings have all been notably criticised by fans. Specifically Idah and Engels. With Trusty getting a fair share of flak too.

    So my question is this;

Have the board pulled another 180? Have they once again decided they either dont trust Rodgers in the market, or just decided to limit the spend?
Or do you think hes being * over again by a board only determined to spend in 1 window out of 4?

We will sign players. Good ones. We'll also see some guys go up a level from last year and we'll have a good squad when the window shuts.

Don't see the point in getting all stressed out about it.

If this is the case we should just sack him and be done with it. Not looking forward to this season as it stands.

A couple of good signings would change the complexion of the transfer window substantially I think. We have done some good business so far. Tierney and Nygren should improve the 1st team for an outlay of 1.7MM. In real spend they could be worth 20 times that. The Japanese guys tentatively look quite good for what we paid. We have also cleared out some dead wood which was much needed. If we reinforce the forward line with a couple of good additions then the window could finish quite well overall.

The length of time its taking to get business done in areas where we a clearly understrength should be questioned though, given money is not a constraint and the obvious benefits of having players in the door as early as possible. Ok, you may not expect every piece of business to be concluded before August, but when there is an obvious lack of depth then it should be addressed more decisively.
