It’s not an issue that needs addressing

The club was literally forward planning with this

    4 players needed in.

    2 x wingers
    1 x defensive mid
    1 x CB

That's our absolute bare minimum tbf

He was brought in to shadow Schmeichel and get ready to take over when he retires, and is well on course to do so. You're talking a power of * I'm afraid.

Sinisalo could take over from Schmeichel no bother in my opinion.

I disagree strongly. I also think you haven't a notion what you're on about so we'll leave it at that.

Again I disagree, signing a young back up is not forward planning in my view, its addressing a current issue. We needed a better standard of backup keeper than Bain, Sinisalo looks that but it's a huge difference to being a back up keeper that will play a few games here and there and maybe in the cup than to being the clubs no 1. I don't think he's shown enough to date on it. Early days of course and he could prove me wrong, he should also prove me right but I firmly believe it is compete negligence of the highest regard for us to not be looking at options as to who takes over from Schmeichel next season.

I find it odd that people are completely won over after 6 games. He got caught in no mans land against St Johnstone and was beaten by a cross that went straight in at home to Kilmarnock. I just think it strange people are so certain about him on those 6 games he played, when little jeopardy existed and he showed shaky moments.

There’s too much made of forward planning.

Sinisalo is clearly a good backup and there’s a chance he can step up to number one over the next year or two.

If he does, then that’s great. If he doesn’t, then we go to the market and sign a new keeper at that time.

The only planning we should really be doing is maintaining up to date lists of potential targets in case we need to get someone in.

I seen a bit of chat we should sign someone in to play McGregor’s position so they’re “ready” in a year or two. Again - I think that’s the wrong approach. If something like that works out then that’s great but being too detailed with your planning can be a hindrance.

Think the plan is for Sinisalo to take over from Schmiechel. He will get a shot in the no.1 jersey. Doohan brought in to be the back up keeper.

I just find the assumption that Sinisalo will be our next number 1 pretty uninspiring TBH.

I'm not saying he's only backup and I admit he's good enough to be a first-choice keeper at Celtic and I won't spit the dummy if he takes that spot; but I still want us out there looking for the next Boruc or Forster!

I know finding keepers of their quality is easier said than done and I'm not naive enough to assume we will find one and, as I said, I won't throw a tantrum if we don't and we end up with Sinisalo; but I hope we are at least looking! The idea of just resting on our laurels and accepting that Sinisalo will replace Schmeichel as our number 1 is a bit underwhelming.

What if Sinisalo is the next Boruc? We signed Boruc at the age of 25, two years older than Sinisalo.

I don't really understand your concerns at all. You've said he's good enough to be first choice, then later say if he replaces Schmeichel it'll be "a bit underwhelming". Why?

He's clearly been signed to learn from Schmeichel and then ultimately take over from him. And in his little game time so far he's shown he has plenty of potential. Good height, calm on the ball and a good shot stopper.

Sorry but 'you haven't a notion what you're on about' doesn't cut it mate. Am talking in facts here, not opinion. He was brought in to develop under Schmeichel, which is the definition of forward planning.

There plenty issues to dig the club on with regards to that phrase, but this ain't one. You can read the manager's thoughts on it, here they are incase you missed them

    https://www.heraldscotland.com/spor...ls-celtics-strategy-signing-viljami-sinisalo/

“Like I said, you have to invest sometimes when you have a really top-level goalkeeper in front of you, and that was the whole idea with him. Bring him in for a season, let him develop, if he gets some games, great, and then look at what will happen in the second season because it’s so important that goalkeepers play,"

As I said, it's not up for debate. Sinisalo is seen as Kaspers successor, and has done well enough in his minutes to still be that.

    *, * fit?

I respect your view but don't agree with it. The whole tough guy act is embarrassing. Is that my hint to not voice an opinion on here anymore?

You clearly rate him more than I do. I think he's decent; but I don't see a Boruc or a Forster there TBH.

100% agree with this and my thoughts exactly. We know the end is near with our current keeper. I just commented that I would hope the club is doing the right thing and drawing up some potential replacements. I find it mad that 6 games at the back end of the season have convinced so many that Sinisalo is the answer. He did ok in those games, was poor for two of the goals he let in and we have to bear in mind, those games were dead rubbers in reality. I don't get why its so hotly contested to hold that view.
