I might be mixed up and pulled the wrong memory out of the jumble sale in ma head.....

But was that not Peter Beardsley's testimonial.

    If not it's similar

I remember something like Beardsley missing a penalty then getting made to re-take it....and scoring....

Tell that to Sutton, who slapped Beckham in Giggs's one. :56:

MON seemed to want to get results in them.

Sutton is a * though, and I mean that in a loving way. Of course he’d be doing that

There were also quite a few bonnie women on the Middlesbrough buses, I thought about asking to join their CSC' to drive up to Middlesbrough and join their buses BUT explaining why to my mrs would have been a difficult conversation.

Manchester ran a couple of buses when I was growing up mate. Would easily fill both for the vast majority of games.

Shearer was playing but Beardsley took the penalty as it was his testimonial. Referee gave him 2 shots at it.

It happened in both Beardsley and Shearer testimonials. Posted the video up the page, where Shearer came on to score the penalty

'Stadium' was 2 stands at the time. But compared to what old Celtic Park looked like and that horrific season playing at Hampden.....it was beyond belief better.

That same season with only the 2 stands....Van Hooijdonk and Thom scored 2 very late goals to beat 1st division Dundee Utd in the cup.
The roar for Andy Thom's winner was so loud that it knocked out BBC 5 Live's radio broadcast.

I've always said the atmosphere was better than ever in the Tommy Burns seasons. Much more passion. More singing. Going absolute mental anytime we scored.

But I still think we missed the boat on Kevin Kelly's fantastic Cambuslang stadium plan. He had a brilliant plan that it was all going to be paid for by Glasgow City Council. We'd have saved a fortune.
Until Fergus McCann came in and ruined the old board's plans for European domination. That board didn't get long enough in charge to achieve their goals for the club.

And Lou Macari was a brilliant manager. Vastly under rated

Is that the same game that fat * Allardyce brought their backup keeper on to play up front?

Another petty reason I can't stand them :giggle1:

That’s me close to 27 years here in Gateshead, married into a Toon Army daft family

Met all types, the majority of toons fans I’ve met are sound, you get the odd roaster
here and there, just the same as every other fan base.

Some don’t have a clue what goes on North of the border, just have to
teach them a thing or two.

Don’t believe all the pish you read on forums lol

A lot of good * down here by the way.

After years of working all around England, I am glad am here.

As for the rest of England, it is a * hole far as am concerned.

My da lived with a lassie for years in South Shields and loved it. He used to basically tell me to * up when I brought up my dislike of geordies and reeled it off the tongue :giggle1:

The beach front is awesome same as you venture further south down to Sunderland it’s a beautiful part of the world
It’s glorious when the sun is out.

Whitburn and Seaburn of Sunderland, you can see a lot of money in that area not so much if you travel a few streets into South Shields.

25 quid a ticket plus a booking fee it's incredible how out of touch the club is. Ah well at least we don't release 4 kits every season and bring out a new training range every fortnight or increase the price of season books

Celtic will host Newcastle United on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in a very special pre-season match at Celtic Park.

Scotland and England’s respective League Cup winners will take on one another as they continue their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, and the game will have a competitive edge as both sides look to come out on top and clinch The adidas Trophy.

Newcastle United made history this season when they lifted the Carabao Cup in March, defeating Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley. It was a final packed with emotion as Eddie Howe led his side to their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

The joyous scenes that followed in the streets of Newcastle will live long in the memory and the Geordies will make the short journey north to Glasgow in their thousands to take on Scotland’s own League Cup winners.

Celtic also enjoyed success in Scotland’s respective competition, adding a 22nd League Cup title to the trophy cabinet in December after another win over Rangers, securing the Premier Sports Cup for Brendan Rodgers’ team.

Brendan Rodgers said: “I’m really looking forward to this match in the summer and I think it will be a great occasion for both sets of players and supporters, as well as being really important in our build up to next year.”

“Eddie and his team, like ourselves, have enjoyed a great season and I know we will face a tough test from a top Premier League side.

"As Champions, we will aim to enjoy a good pre-season to get us ready for the challenges of next year at home and abroad, and this really exciting match will provide great preparation for us.”

Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe added: “Travelling to Glasgow to face Celtic is a great opportunity to test ourselves as we gear up for Premier League and European football next season.

“We'll face a top team at an historic ground, with a big away crowd there to support us
