Celtic Furious as Hibs Lock 10,000 Celtic Fans out of Hampden

CELTIC were left raging yesterday when it was revealed Hibernian had failed to sell 10,000 tickets for today’s crunch semi-final.
When the draw was made Hibs DEMANDED an equal share of the tickets for the match and gave assurances the briefs would be shifted.



Celtic were told at very short notice and are furious they were not given the opportunity to sell these tickets to fans who wanted to go to the game, having sold out their initial allocation.

A spokesperson for Celtic said: “Celtic Football Club is extremely disappointed to learn so many tickets will be unsold for such a prestigious and eagerly awaited match.
“Hibernian demanded an even split of tickets but as it stands have only sold half their allocation.
“It is totally unacceptable that we have thousands more season-ticket holders wishing to attend the match but they will now not be able to, whilst thousands of seats lie empty.
“This is not for the first time this has happened and we will be writing to the SPFL on a matter which needs to be addressed.”

 

Lennys record at Hampden is pish but I expect this to be another hard game, get Rogic and Dembele on and give Ntcham and Griff a rest. I'd have Kouassi in with Broony as well, Armstrongs still needing a kick up the *.

I'd like to see wee Benyu in games like this as well, liked the look of him earlier in the season.

Absolutely scandalous that they've let 10 thousand seat's sit bare..

Never ever again should they get an even split now..

The Huns have got almost 40 thousand the next day from the get go and quite rightly so. It should've been no different for us as well. No a final so their day trippers aren't interested..

Could they no have done a pay at the door for Celtic season ticket holders with the rest as it's short notice? Instead of wasting 10 thousand seat's and losing money..

 

Ticket situation is a shambles, very disappointing for the fans who wanted to go and couldn't get a ticket.

I'm all for it being 50-50, but clubs should be punished if they fail so miserably to sell their allocation, or the allocation they request. Ridiculous.

I believe the two sides share the gate (?), perhaps an adequate 'punishment' for deliberately withholding/not selling, would be to make them forfeit their cut. Bullshit that they'll get 50% of the gate, despite not selling their allocation, if thats the way it works.

 

There definitely needs to some penalty or fairer way. All this bullshit about "it's their semi or final too" when most have an average home gate of under 10k. As you say, if they were made to forfeit all or some of their fate if would soon stop the demands for half of the tickets. Even for every 1,000 tickets handed back you forfeit 5% of the gate.

 

What a joke they never sold their allocation, we could have filled hampden twice for it.

So we will see rolling patches of empty seats? Great.
